Because is barely watchable and the actors barely react to it, they're in some kind of control room looking through a glass window (at 9.000 m deep, pitch dark, why would you put one there btw) and they look surprised, not terrified.

i would argue that we needed more backstory if you are going for a crew that dies off and you are suppossed to feel something for them. I didn't really care what happened to anyone and didn't believe their emotions and relationships as a result of that

the giant konster was a bog letdowm and overall the movie could have try something more psychological, weird visioms, halucinatioms due to the enviroment or make the monster do something spooky other than look cool and shoot out little humanoid dagon monsters to kill humans and try to get the evacutation pods
