True unpopular takes

ITT : Actual unpopular opinions

The Great Gatsby (2013) is complete, extreme garbage; the 70s version with Redford is miles better but still flawed.
The Resident Evil series are pure action kino.
Joker is an average movie, made by a pure hack that used cheap tricks to make people think it was deep. Loved here only for the meme.
Spielberg a shit, fuck the "muh he killed New Hollywood" or whatever, he just suck at creating anything mature.
Tarantino is a worthless directors because he lived as a worthless loser.

Do you have any unpopular opinions that are positive?

Or is it all just bait?

Everybody thinks Gatsby sucked. It was trying to capitalize on that fad where black people wanted to act like 20s and 30s gangsters.

Of course they missed the obvious point of the Jay Gatsby story.

Wasnt that a Marty dud too?

I actually agree with your opinion on the Great Gatsby. My unpopular opinion is: The Wild Wild West was one of the better summer blockbusters in a stream of summers that had great summer blockbusters (Armageddon, Independence Day, Terminator 2) It seemed like every summer in the 90s was great for action movies.

> the 70s version with Redford is miles better but still flawed.
>The Resident Evil series are pure action kino.
?

I agree with this. The source material, the OG Wild wild west tv show was great for its time.

They caught the feel of that tvshow in the movie.

It was also steampunk 5 years before the fad.

I don't know about that b, it definitely have it's following a bit like Moulin Rouge.
For some reason people liked the void over-stylization.

I think it is considered Campy.

It's not Taxi Driver with clown, it's just an average movie made by a director merely apeing what he thinks great directors do.
Also Reddit, instagram, or whatever, everyone is cock sucking this movie.

If you want a true incel kino delving into mental health and about the parasitic nature of women watch Enemy.

I think with the sole-exception of the shitty-ass soundtrack this movie is great.
That is a more unpopular opinion than what you've stated here.

>That is a more unpopular opinion than what you've stated here.
It's pretty well liked by the audience, so no it doesn't seems like it.
On Yas Forums too it doesn't seems unpopular.

Corona?

No way. I thought it was great. It had its issues, like the framing device of Nick writing "The Great Gatsby" and the outburst of Gatsby. Music choice should have been a bit different too.

That being said it was beautiful, its was visually intriguing and really captured the book's FEEL. The dinner scene where they all talk over eachother and it seamlessly bleeds through time being a part that sticks out.

H8ful 8 is my favorite Tarantino movie.
I don't even understand why you h8 it. Is it because of the blacked scene?

Pic related is my genuine opinion
Whiplash is total garbage and Chazelle is a hack
Pixar has never made a good movie
Tarantino's only good movie is Jackie Brown. Parts of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are okay, but they don't work as wholes.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the weakest of the 3 but still an 8/10
Most MCU movies are good. The only outright bad ones are Iron Man 2 and 3, Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

Shant be taking the opinion of a capehsitter

I HATE James Cameron's Aliens. He fucking shat all over one of the only horror and sci-fi masterpieces that have ever existed only to turn it into a mindless schlock of garbage one-liners uttered by the stupidest teenage-like soldiers I've ever seen. And the fact that it is so god damn overrated by the plebs makes me hate it more and more as time goes on.

Ok now do you have any actual unpopular opinions? I'm still waiting to hear at least one

The Deer Hunter is trash, could have been saved with correct editing but it wasnt

I think The End Of Evangelion is the greatest film ever made

Keep pretending faggot.

What he posted weren't unpopular opinons. kys

Everyone on Yas Forums dickride the Joker, and everyone IRL dickride Spielberg.
However you frame it one of those ain't popular.

Spielberg is actually capable of really really disturbing cinema.

I bet he guested on a lot and just didn't put his name on it.

He deserves a lot of credit for just not making really sick productions and releasing them on the world.

He's incredible with the camera.

He have no subtility, he's technically good and sometimes inventine, but each of his serious productions bleed syrup, almost ridiculous pathos.

>The Great Gatsby (2013) is complete, extreme garbage
I agree 100000%

Brian de Palma has only made one good film, and it's Mission Impossible. Everything else he's made is poorly written and acted.
Mission Impossible stopped being interesting after the fourth film. Can anyone honestly remember the plot of the sequels without having to look it up? The series should go back to distinctive directors having their own take on the franchise/spy film genre.
Studio Ghibli films are well animated, but filled with dull characters and unengaging storylines.
300: Rise of an Empire is a good film and better than the first.
The Goonies didn't age well. A lot of the film is just children screaming and being annoying.

But what do you think of the Paul Rudd Toby one?

Good post user.

Nothing could've saved that trainwreck.

>implying Obsession and Sisters are bad
Whaddya, stoopid?

Are you?

>Great Gatsby
>Watching this on a plane

I've never been so disgusted in my life

this
>has the exact same opinion of Joker as every major critic
>thinks it’s unpopular
also learn english, Chang

I think Tarantino doesn't get nearly enough credit for starting genre revitalizations. Everyone knows his early stuff started a wave of shitty crime caper copycats. But no one mentions how Kill Bill massively increased Western acceptance of high stakes Kung Fu flicks, or how Inglorious Basterds totally revitalized WW2 adventure flicks, probably wouldn't have Fury or Overlord without it. And Django kicked off a wave of slavery related films.

Scarface and Phantom of the Paradise are amazing you pleb.
I will never understand the love for Blow Out or some of his other crap though.
Mission Impossible 1 was just okay, operated too much like a smart movie without actually being smart. 3 is the only one that really works although not at a super high level but just as a great action movie.

>If you want a true incel kino delving into mental health and about the parasitic nature of women watch Enemy
Neither Joker or Enemy are about your incel copes, you absolute retard. Drop watching films, return to capeshit and spare us your shit threads.

Shutter Island is one of Scorsese's best movies, top 3 material.

>”Classic” Horror movies (Alien, Nightmare on elm street, Friday the 13, Halloween, Texas chainsaw massacre are not scary in the slightest asides from manipulating the audiences most basic nervous response and reaction to sudden stimulation (See: Jumpscares)
People pretending these movies are scary are just doing so due to some sort of pre-determined view that the films “must be good”

>The Great Gatsby (2013) is complete, extreme garbage
Literally everything Baz Luhrmann has ever made is extreme garbage.

What the movie even about? All the trailers is just them partying. Its like Wallstreet wolf, just an excuse for Dicaprio to hang out with his jew friends?

you right in everything, recoverbro

and don't come back

I hate Baz and his meandering storytelling, flat shot compositions, lousy CGI effects, horrendous actor performances and absolutely disgusting music choices.

>The Great Gatsby
is it an overly-romantic movie?
if so then it sucks by definition.

Yikes. This is just objectively wrong. Get better taste

based

ROTS is the best SW movie
Mission Impossible 2 is the best one out of the franchise
Two Towers>Fellowship>Return of the King
David Fincher is a hack
Signs is Gibson's best movie

Tim Burton has only made one acceptable movie (Edward Scissorhands), everything else he's shat out is worthless.

Dutch angles are for hacks.

Based

Suckerpunch is a great movie if you're just looking for a fun time with nice effects, and gets too much flak for being shallow when it never really misrepresented itself as being deep. Who the fuck cares if the story is dumb and if the chicks are dressed the way they are. The movie is basically a super long steampunkish music video and that's not going to be for everyone but I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. Snyder never really presented the movie as being anything different in the marketing material whereas other capeshit cuts lines and even plots that they show off in characters. It was kinda obvious from the marketing and previews what kind of movie Suckerpunch would be so why the fuck did people expect another 300 or Watchmen?

Prisoners was a good movie but only because Denis directed it and its immediately easy to tell he didn't write it. It's a very average movie with an amazing director and cast but a generic and safe plot. If it came out in the 90s it'd probably star Richard Gere and Jude Law, would be just as shitty as a bunch of other thrillers back then and about as original.

I know mcu rightly gets hate on here but I also get bewildered looks whenever I tell people that Iron Man 1 was the last excellent movie marvel made, everything afterwards besides Deadpool (somehow these were good) has been a c at very best and that's like 15 fucking movies. This is a boring one but I figured I may as well.

Those takes seem pretty mainline, though, except I can't remember anyone really talking about Prisoners. Meanwhile the MCU counter-culture is in full effect (thank fucking God), and it's now completely okay to dismiss anyone showing genuine interest in comic book movies as a philistine manchild.

>The Great Gatsby (2013) is complete, extreme garbage
Wow so brave of you to say that user
My unpopular opinion is that the MCU is samey boring shit

If I look at your favorite films and there's not one that's rated below 20-30% on RT, I assume you're a coward who doesn't form their own opinions on films and just parrots popular talking points.

Who the fuck knows their favorite films' damn RT rating off the top of their head?

The theatrical versions of LotR are better than the extended.

The book was overrated trash too.

I agree with all of this
