You are given $100 Million to adapt it. Who do you hire as the director? Who do you cast?
Blood Meridian
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Kid: Tom Holland
Judge: Vince Vaughn
I do t think Dennis or Vince would be able to pull it off.
Mel as director
A completely shaven Sam Hyde as Holden
(Alright, not sure about that second one)
>A legion of horribles, hundreds in number, half naked or clad in costumes attic or biblical or wardrobed out of a fevered dream with the skins of animals and silk finery and pieces of uniform still tracked with the blood of prior owners, coats of slain dragoons, frogged and braided cavalry jackets, one in a stovepipe hat and one with an umbrella and one in white stockings and a bloodstained weddingveil and some in headgear of cranefeathers or rawhide helmets that bore the horns of bull or buffalo and one in a pigeontailed coat worn backwards and otherwise naked and one in the armor of a spanish conquistador, the breastplate and pauldrons deeply dented with old blows of mace or saber done in another country by men whose very bones were dust and many with their braids spliced up with the hair of other beasts until they trailed upon the ground and their horses’ ears and tails worked with bits of brightly colored cloth and one whose horse’s whole head was painted crimson red and all the horsemen’s faces gaudy and grotesque with daubings like a company of mounted clowns, death hilarious, all howling in a barbarous tongue and riding down upon them like a horde from a hell more horrible yet than the brimstone land of christian reckoning, screeching and yammering and clothed in smoke like those vaporous beings in regions beyond right knowing where the eye wanders and the lip jerks and drools.
Director: George Miller
Kid: Paul Dano
Judge: Nicolas Cage, but kept on the leash
I really, really like this pic
>Michael Bay
>Judge Cena
Tbh i only chose Holland because hes young
Maybe Dane Deehan or a skinnier Taron Egerton instead of him
Here's your Judge, bro
it would be better if the judge had a pepe face
Director, John Milius, Judge computer generated, Kid de aged Lucas Black
Beautiful. Can you believe critics didnt like this when it came out? Fucking idiots man
He does bro...
I think Holland is young enough looking to be able to play the kid and old enough where if you put some makeup on him he could be the man.
Make a shitty movie with 30 mil
Spend 70 on cocaine and hookers
yeah ok, I see it
Post Blood Meridian Art.
Last nights thread had me going down the Native VS US rabbit hole.
Jesse Ventura for the judge
Can you link me to a post in that thread I'd like to read it
one criticism I always hear about McCarthy is that he needlessly uses too many esoteric or even archaic words to a pretentious degree, yet that's one of the most famous passages in the book and it's easy to understand
Director I dunno. Coens? John Hillcoat? Tough call.
Vincent D'Onofrio for judge.
Unknown for the kid. Young, good actor.
Director: David Lynch
Kid: Jack Grazer
Judge: This is really difficult because the best options are dead. Brando, Seymour Hoffman, etc. I might just hire an eccentric stage actor, like a Brian Cox type.
Tobin: Tim Blake Nelson
Toadvine: Richard Brake
David Brown: Eamon Farren
The director is tremendously important. A lot of guys will try to just do a gritty, grimdark desert action movie and it just won't work. It's a magical realist book, it's extremely spiritual and apocalyptic, where souls of sinners are spit back up from Hell. You have to do it very carefully
Shit take from infected scum.
...
Well the Sam Hyde part was a joke but Mel would be great if he did it lie Apocalypto
Thanks lad
$100 million isn't enough money to adapt it, and there would have to be more than 1 film.
Give me $240 million and I'll adapt it into a 8 part mini-series. $30 million per episode.
8 parts? You’re smoking crack
>vince vaughn as judge holden
i will never, ever, ever, be able to take him seriously as as actor after true detective season 2 and the rayposting that flared up on this shithole
>ever heard of the blood meridian, kid? it's just an arbitrarily drawn line on the globe but for some reason it sees more violence than others. bloodshed, kid. too bad i live on the fucking equator.
You realize the Natives aren't the bad guys in BM, right?
>Director
Zack Snyder
>Kid
deaged Elijah Wood
>Judge
Brendan Fraser
Warwick Davis as the kid
bitches just can't understand literary style and feel threatened by it. like they realize they've become a critic without ever actually reading Moby Dick or the Inferno for themselves
might be too long, you could do it in a 3 hour movie
I fucking hate when people draw the Judge like an Engineer from Prometheus. Perfectly shredded and handsome.
He's extremely strong and large but he's not a supervillain. If anything he would have closer to a pro wrestler's physique. I imagine him like a young Andre
Director: Robert Eggers
Kid: Dane DeHaan
Toadvine: Charlie Heaton
Captain White: Leonardo Dicaprio
Glanton: Ben Foster
Tobin: Javier Bardem
David Brown: Walton Goggins
John Jackson (black): Lakeith Stanfield
John Jackson (white): Jesse Plemons
Judge: Pic related
if we could change at least one character to female which would it be, all male is just so unrealistic to todays audience
8 hours actually makes sense. But it would depend on the presentation.
>todays audience
Who?
Shut the fuck up
Dane DeHaan is almost 35 bro. Walton Goggins is a solid call though
Director james cameron
Idris elba as Judge
Chris pratt as kid
todays film/tv consuming audience are used to seeing strong, female protagonists so to not have one just to retain a ‘pure’ vision of the source material will drive potential viewing numbers down
have sex
Listening to this part on audiobook was pure bliss.
Yes i listen to audiobooks when laying down for bed, its kino for the ears.
He is a bit old to play the kid but I think it's important to not pick anybody too handsome or pretty boy-ish to play the role. A lot of the better younger actors like Finn Wolfhard, Jack Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, etc are just too good looking to play the part. You want somebody a little weathered looking, not a super fresh face.
I agree with Lynch but idk about Jack Dylan Grazer as the Kid, he's supposed to be a fighter
This desu. I always pictured him a bit chubby since he's described as looking like a giant baby at some point iirc
this movie or series should only be done as a passion project by a real filmmaker. don't put these pearls before swine by compromising it, once you give the one inch you'll end up giving a mile and it won't have been worth making at all.
I had read Blood Meridian was like that before I started reading it. But I didn't expect it to be the most violent book I've ever read
I agree it's an unusual pick but a huge part of the Kid's character is his youth and the remnants of childhood and innocence in him. He's a good actor and seems intelligent, I think you could put some bulk on him and he'd do well
Yeah that thread was comfy, when everyone else was being fags coofing and being green in all other threads that 1 stayed clean and on topic.
S. Craig Zahler
Andrew Garfield
Either Jeffery Dean Morgan or Mel G.
Agreed. I had fun and I haven’t read the book
>the natives were the bad guys
risking infection because of this
Director: Mel Gibson
the Kid: Finn Wolfhard
the Judge: vincent d'onofrio
Captain Glanton: Chris Evans
Dane looks like shit these days. He could actually be Toadvine.
they're all bad guys you mental midget
I think you misread my post.
Any women in glantons gang would get constantly raped. But for shits and giggles make the kid a female that dresses like a boy. Kristen stewart as the kid
If you haven’t read the book you have to read it. Don’t want to get sick and reply to you directly.
I guess you could look at it that way, but McCarthy doesn't demonize the natives like he does the other factions. They're shown as violent and savage but not much different from a sandstorm or a tornado. They're dangerous, but they're not evil.
there was a mexican family that rode with them and only the little girl was raped by the judge
I'm just so emotional I can't see straight
h-hot
I read both this and The Road, the latter book is better and I have a feeling it's a case of people preferring BM because it's not mainstream.
absolutely based
/r/ing "sark and chapparal" pasta
the descriptions are just so amazingly detailed its a real head movie made by a cinema auteur
i can't read that contrived garbage
What scene from the book would you most like to see onscreen? For me it's the Yuma attack and the Judge walking out with the cannon
Don't understand why people get hard-ons over run-on sentences in fiction. Is this supposed to be ironically good? What the fuck?
131587417
I did the same and BM stuck with me a lot more than the road. I was getting to the end of The Road and i knew where it was going and was kind of bored with it. It was the opposite for bm for me, at the start i thought i knew where it was headed but it it surprised me and i was much more interested in what the intention of it was.
I would have liked the road better if the scope was grander, i wanted to learn about the red scarf army, their hierachy, who their leader was and how they survived with such great numbers, not about some dude swimming back and forth from a boat for 4 days.
>bro long words and run-on sentences bro so epic!!!!!! This is just like a yummy wummy kino!
*coof* sorry
anyone who thinks a woman should be in this is a faggot. there was like 2 females in the whole book because in this world they would just get raped and shown how useless they actually are.
i like the implication rode in on a wedding and slaughtered the bride and groom, it must have been so nightmarish for them
Blood Meridian is good, but Suttree is much better
I still think pic related would make a great Holden.
