What am I in for
What am I in for
More self-indulgent schlock from Refn.
Kino. Slow in the middle for a bit but the ending is good
One of the defining films of the 2010s
test
Real Lolita shit
Well-shot, well-directed, poorly written, and pretentious swill.
>kino
lmao this shit is the furthest thing from kino, it is literal art hoe "i'm so deep" bait for normie pseuds
I WANT TO BE CUUUURED
beautifully shot, awesome soundtrack. I liked it.
Kino, ignore this faggot who WATCHES a visual medium for muh story
Based
Better than Drive
Hot girls
It’s quite possibly the best representation of superficiality because, at the end of the day, beauty is the only thing that matters. I am aware that there is a hamfisted monologue that describes exactly what I just said, but if it was so bad then why did you keep watching? It’s honestly a masterpiece because the film’s visuals reinforce the central theme about visually pleasing images being paramount to everything including dialogue, narrative, character development etc.
A reflection on perfection.
I was waiting for you, post the panties mirror. Classic refn
jesus imagine believing this movie was kino and then calling OTHER people faggots
>HURRRRRR MOVIES ARE VISUAL SO WRITING DOESNT MATTER
almost too stupid to warrant a response
Was waiting for this entry level defense. Self-aware garbage is still garbage.
>at the end of the day, beauty is the only thing that matters
Except this wasn't really the point now, was it?
>but if it was so bad then why did you keep watching?
Because that's what it takes to look at something through a critical eye? You can't seriously believe this is a good defense of the movie.
>It’s honestly a masterpiece
Fashion industry shallow, here's a bunch of absurd shock value centric scenes, WHAT A MASTERPIECE BRAVO REFN
Refnfags truly are pseuds in every sense. They see pretty colors and their judgment goes out the window.
Film is a visual medium and I can’t think of a film that better encapsulates the vapidity of the 2010s better than The Neon Demon.
Read a book faggot
>implying you can read
>Well-shot, well-directed, poorly written
solid summary of the movie. worth a watch on a lazy sunday.
Yes, indeed, it is a superficial movie. But a good one? Nope. A movie should do more than be a hollow one-trick pony in order to be considered kino. Don't go handing out the accolade left and right like this faggot down there.
Neck yourself, you little asswipe. Your taste is shit and your estimation of your own IQ is about 30 points too high.
A post-stoner movie.
>refn
>kino
>Neck yourself, you little asswipe. Your taste is shit and your estimation of your own IQ is about 30 points too high.
>you are mad
>>you are mad
I think you’re misunderstanding me. I agree with you in a way because I think it’s the most superficial film I have ever seen. The reason why I think it’s so great is that the visuals are in complete harmony with the film’s thematic content. This is something that only extremely talented directors can pull off.
Keanu rape thing was hit as fuck.
>The reason why I think it’s so great is that the visuals are in complete harmony with the film’s thematic content
It was a shallow movie with the super big brained theme of "fashion industry is shallow", this does not take "talent" to pull off. This is low-hanging fruit and it should really not impress anybody who isn't a teenage girl.
what's your problem dude
>what's your problem dude
If it’s such low-hanging fruit then why didn’t anybody do it until Refn?
Legitimately feels like you're just going down a checklist of arguments that are as shitty as possible. I get it. You like the movie. But your rationalizations are brainlet tier.
Zoolander was a better movie desu
kinofest. this was playing on less than 1,000 screens and it was playing at my shitty mall. went with a group of friends and passed a bottle of whiskey down the row back and forth. killer soundtrack and visuals.
He watched Drive and then went to watch this, but got bored because their was no car chases or self-insert autismo to project onto. Unable to rationalize that he's retarded he latches onto some bullshit criticism he fabricated about how its too shallow for his own taste (despite not understanding the themes, it isn't about "fashion industry is shallow" LEL) so that he doesn't have to reconcile with his retardation.
I'll bet that he gave up watching films like Lawrence of Arabia, 2001, anything by Kirosawa, 7th Seal or other entry level films 1 hour in, and when pressed on what he thinks of them says something like "they're meandering" or "drawn out". These faggots are always the same.
The usual Refn visuals, a pretty good first and second act, completely shits the bed in the third act. *coof*
I thought Drive was mediocre.
But congrats on typing perhaps one of the worst posts ever on this board. In defense of Refn of all directors LMFAO.
>despite not understanding the themes, it isn't about "fashion industry is shallow" LEL
Ah yes because the superficiality of the fashion movie is totally not a central theme of the movie
industry*
I desperately tried to detect another meaning to the movie, because i couldn't imagine Refn seriously made a "Fashion industry bad" movie. Like, yeah no shit dude.
Whats all this coofing shit
am i infected
There's nothing inherently wrong with the movie's thematic bedrock. A movie doesn't even need to have coherent themes to be good. But the issue is he went out of his way to make a deep movie by making a shallow movie, if that makes sense. He can successfully trick art hoes and smoothbrain Refnfags into liking it but at the end of the day it's schlock. It's jam packed with shock value, has pretty colors, and has a theme trite enough for Refnfags and normies to understand, so to them it's a good movie.
Ah yes, now we get to the ad hominem attacks. You could have easily just admitted that you got stumped.
Nigga you basically said "it hasn't been done before so it's good" and think that's a legitimate defense of a movie. I am stumped at how dumb you're being, that's about it.
>Ah yes, now we get to the ad hominem attacks
Plebbit is that way, friend.
The cinematography in Zoolander isn’t as good as The Neon Demon
You are now.
True. But Zoolander is still a vastly superior film. It is, dare I say, kino.
You’re being even dumber than you think I am. Originality is just one aspect of what makes The Neon Demon a masterpiece.
Movie hits a high point with the Motel scene with the Mountain Lion and Keanu Reeves. It all goes downhill from there.
Imagine having so little going for you you spend an hour crying about a movie you hate cause others like it
Zoolander is a better comedy. The Neon Demon is a better film.
>there's people that unironically think that the theme of the movie was 'the fashion industry is bad'
>these are the same retards that then call the movie shallow and without substance
LMAO. This movie had literally nothing to do with the fashion industry, if you think otherwise you're just outing yourself a brainlet that gets hung up on the most surface level impressions.
>masterpiece
You're here replying too, retard. I have the luxury of free time at work.
Someone please infect the faggot who keeps shitting on this masterpiece!
>LMAO. This movie had literally nothing to do with the fashion industry
>if you think otherwise you're just outing yourself a brainlet that gets hung up on the most surface level impressions.
yikes, if you're defending Refn then you've waived your right to criticize anything as surface level
immediately failed at the first hurdle by not casting best Fanning sister. Refn confirmed for hack
lmao look at the retards replying to the pozzed faggots. Enjoy your COVID-19.
>blue and purple neon lights
>slow, meandering panning shots
>slow meandering still shots with a person dead center sitting completely still
>two people awkwardly looking at each other for 5 minutes
>two people awkwardly talking to each other for 5 minutes
Is this really all Refn has in his repertoire? I recently binged all episodes of Too Old to Die Young in one go and it made it really obvious that all of his movies are shot that way.
MASTERPIECE
*co̧͞ơf*
pure KINO
Cool soundtrack, by-the-numbers horror-thriller
The OST is better than the film
'Haha epic reaction image' I get, but it's literally true. It's not even a matter of liking or disliking the film, or thinking it's good or bad; if you genuinely think the movie was about the fashion industry you're a retard.
Good thing, I'm not criticizing anything as surface level you tard. If this is your level of comprehension no wonder you didn't understand the movie.
holy shit he 'edited' a post
this isn't reddit you ocd looking incel faggot
>I'm too dumb to understand this film so I'll say its shit
lol ok. Be honest, you thought that the triangle shape at the runway was just the Triforce from Zelda didn't you? Here's a hint, it's supposed to be the second iteration of Sierpinski triangle. Now consider that Elle Fanning is mainly involved with three other women who are "different to her", i.e pointing in the opposite direction. Then she ends up inside of them, the third iteration of Sierpinski triangle. But what does that mean? I can't be fucked spoonfeeding a smoothbrain desu so I'll just say that its part of the greater theme of self-destruction as the cost of adaptation
I watched it again last night while high as fuck and it was as god-tier as ever. Refn's best film
>if you think otherwise you're just outing yourself a brainlet that gets hung up on the most surface level impressions.
Here in context it is exceedingly obvious that you are criticizing what you perceive as my "surface level impressions", clearly implying that it's not a good thing for impressions to be surface level. Do you not even understand what you're typing? Why should anybody take your posts seriously if you can't even be arsed to maintain consistent internal logic in your own posts?
Wow, so deep, amazing. So deep. Triangles. Wow. I am impressed.
>she ends up inside of them
what was the movie about then, user?
Make sure you watch too old to die young
The difference is I like the movie, and you're just acting out your resentment
>Wow, so deep, amazing. So deep. Triangles. Wow. I am impressed.
Literally seething.
>Make sure you watch too old to die young
one of the best series in a long, long time
Beautiful movie, really.
But the 3º act is silly.
Best Keanu role of all time.
>Literally seething
Run out of steam, I see.
