S. Craig Zahler

that face is too manly for judge holden

The judge

I recognize Lorgar, but who are the other two?

>NOOOOOO A PALE BALD GUY I'M GOING INSAAAAANE

one good answer

Zahler, PTA or Yorgos directing.
Pic related as Holden.

Willem Dafoe as Toadvine.

he can do shock grit stuff but not proper cinema

this should be a coen brothers joint, they're on point when they get serious

Yes, he should be more other worldy. Softer features, a bit fatter and less pronounced lips. Also it looks like he has eyebrows. I dont think he had those.

This book cannot be filmed properly.
The Coens could probably pull something amazing though.

They'd know better than to try, the structure of the novel would be a nightmare to adapt into a script. Meanwhile NCFOM was a movie script before it was a novel so adapting that was a no brainer.

Fabulous Bill on the right

Word

I'm ok with those.

I don’t get this meme. Seems like a pretty straight forward novel to adapt. I read it after seeing a thread about it being “unfilmable”. It could be a violent, psychedelic masterpiece is adapted properly.

>They'd know better than to try, the structure of the novel would be a nightmare to adapt into a script.

I think these days people are more open to experimenting with the narrative.
If Coens are involved this would win awards no doubt.

Woody Harrelson or Javier Bardem for Holden
Tom Cruise for Glanton
Sam Rockwell for Toadvine

The kid is the most difficult. Needs to be a young, gruff-looking and somewhat ugly dude. I don't think there's a market in Hollywood for someone that young that isn't a twink. Would def cast a younger Josh Brolin for The man, though.

I think the main problem with putting it in film (aside from the violence and racism which would get producers and suits trying to stick their dirty fingers in every step of production) is that a key aspect of the book is the gang just going from place to place. It works as a book because you have McCarthy with his incredibly lyrical descriptions, but there's only so much you can do on film.

Post tall actors with soft facial features

Agreed. Sure, a lot of the charm comes from the way everything is narrated. The opening page is fucking amazing, but I could do without "a legion of horribles" and shit like that.

I'd make it a series, though. Holden's monologues are great and I don't think there'd be much of a place for them in a film.

Nice.

Only option for the judge in my book

Tyler Perry

he cant play holden. oh wait, maybe he can. It is the 20's afterall

Fucking excellent choices.

Also Tom Hardy for Bathcat.

Kevin Durand

>tyler perry
>basketball player
throw out some non black actors

That would be the hardest part, but if you made it like a minimal dialogue, surreal and heavily reliant on some beautiful shots, it can work.

I don’t think you can make it a mini series. Like said a lot of it is the gang going from place to place. You could make it a beautiful, solid, psychedelic, violent 2 hour film though.

Perfect

>You could make it a beautiful, solid, psychedelic, violent 2 hour film though.
something in the same style of assassination of jesse james

I was thinking more like The Lighthouse

This movie should be done with as little big names as possible and just be made by passionate people forced to work around a small budget

fuck no.

>He thought his life was over

Im sorry but it cant be made in today's day and age if it doesnt have shitty diversity and crap. Imagine the shit the movie would get if it had no diversity or women involved?

I'd say it's more akin to The three burials of Melquiades Estrada, but with bouts of horrific violence.

>HUR DUR JUDGE HOLDEN SHOULD BE PLAYED BY A FAT BALD ACTOR

YOU DENSE MOTHERFUCKERS. JUDGE HOLDEN IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK UNWORLDY. HES LITERALLY DESCRIBED AS A 7 FOOT TALL LOOKING BABY WITH NO HAIR WHATSOEVER INCLUDING EYEBROWS AND EYELASHES. WHOEVER IS CASTED AS HIM WILL HAVE TO USE HEAVY PROSTHETICS ON THEIR FACE TO MAKE THEM LOOK WEIRD AS FUCK

These anons get it

There were some blacks in the gang. And Mexicans and Indians throughout the novel. Pretty sure there was a Mexican in the gang too. Don’t remember though.
Red pill me on this

Well the White main characters aren’t exactly nice people so they could make it

>he never sleeps. He is dancing, dancing. He says that he will never die.

>HEAVY PROSTHETICS ON THEIR FACE TO MAKE THEM LOOK WEIRD AS FUCK
lmao fuck outta here capeshitter
you can convey otherworldliness better through cinematography and acting than cgi or props

nah, I can already see the headlines.
>Blood meridian movie. A white supremacist's fantasy

I’m down for Zahler. No way PTA would do it since he likes to zag, when this zigs.
Yorgos would be interesting but I’m sure he would fuck it up somehow.

Honestly I think Ridley Scott could do it. Or John Hillcoat.

Are you implying your pic related is a good look for Holden? lmao
This or these without hair and white makeup would look more "otherworldly" than your c-horror movie prop.

why is this book praised so highly? i havent read it but it appears to be an ultra violent wankfest

If only Peckinpah was alive.

>I could do without "a legion of horribles" and shit like that.
Wtf, that part is great and it's based on real shit. The Great Comanche Raid of 1840. The historical grounding in the novel is integral to sell Holden's bleak malice. That's why it's unfilmable. Film is too fake.

Apparently the director of pic related is interested in adapting Blood Meridian. I personally felt lukewarm watching this but hey, maybe she can surprise me. She can't be a pussy and keep the violence off-screen, though.

it kind of is, great prose though

The 3 burials of M.E. is about Tommy Lee Jones kidnapping a racist US border officer and making him help to find a place to bury Melquiades, Tommy's friend. They have these somewhat surrealist encounters with people, and there's the calm and tension of two men crossing the desert and stopping sometimes and reflecting on things. Add violence to that and if feels pretty adequate for a Blood meridian adaptation, IMHO

I meant, the narrator's descriptions we could do without. I agree that part is great

>Apparently the director of pic related is interested in adapting Blood Meridian
of course they would greenlight it if a woman directed it. You were never really here sucked fat dick

The real judge

>Ridley Scott
No

Could Clint Eastwood direct Blood Meridian?

FUCK yes. this guy was in twin peaks. Great casting job, user

Honestly, Refn could direct a good blood meridian.

Assaid, it is an ultra violent book. But fuck, the way it’s written is otherworldly. I’m not /lit/ fag so some /lit/ fag would shit on me by saying that. But its poetic in the way it is written. It paints such a vivid picture. Judge Holden is such a memorable villain as well. It is well worth the read.

Naw.
Sounds like a pretty good movie desu

not anymore, like almost all old directors he lost his touch

Gives you an idea of what I'm talking about

youtube.com/watch?v=4TuXKTKzgjs

He could do it, Apocalypto style.
