I've got a lot of friends who went the trade route and knew some old boomers who made a career out of it.
Almost every one of them is hurting physically. The ones that do construction pretty much are in constant pain and their skin is like leather now. The welder has fucked up eyes, the mechanics have huge knuckles now from the wear and tear on their hands, basically ever single one is in pain somehow and none of them make very good money. It was all a cope because they didn't want to go to college and have to do homework.
Almost everyone I know with a college degree is doing alright. I know MBA grads making 120k to work from home and basically do nothing, I know people with their own offices and who are in charge of people. The ones that went the college route are almost universally better off and in better health
