VVitch & the Lighthouse

>VVitch & the Lighthouse
>Hereditary & Midsommar

Who's the better director?

>Kino & Kino
>Dogshit & Dogshit

Wow I really wonder who's the best

Both have yet to truly prove themselves to me but:

VVitch > Hereditary > The Lighthouse = Midsommar

I thought the Lighthouse was too weird and obscure to be a truly great movie.

All 4 of those movies are terrible. Alex Garland is another awful meme director that should be tossed in a ditch with these 2 brainlets

neither are good

>Hark! xDDD
The lighthouse is too lazy to have a concrete direction and instead fluffs pseudo intellectuals, barely remember the vvitch to comment on it
Hereditary and Midsommar are concentrated kino

vvitch is crap, lighthouse is kino
hereditary and midsommar are both kinos

>too weird and obscure to be a truly great movie
>too lazy to have a concrete direction and instead fluffs pseudo intellectuals
>Hereditary and Midsommar are concentrated kino
>hereditary and midsommar are both kinos

Retards in full force today.

you do realize some people just don't care that director is jewish?

Both Midsommar and Hereditary are inferior to Eggers films.

>too weird and obscure
This is not valid criticism in any way.

vvitch is already forgotten

Eggers

Midsommar was a utter pile of shit.

Definitely Eggers

Hereditary was garbage when they put in the creepypasta tier supernatural stuff in it. Lighthouse was the best movie of 2019. It's no contest

Just like The Wicker Man ovelong Swedish version and Rosemary's Baby: Melodrama with comically bad horror elements cut

safdiekino > vvitch > hereditary > lighthouse > midsommar

It's a valid subjective opinion, bro. I did not know what was actually happening in the movie as I as watching it. Whether or not that was intentional doesn't matter because I don't want to be confused while watching a movie, but if I am then that confusion should be put to rest by the end of the movie, which it was not in the case of the Lighthouse. Nothing in the movie, to me, actually made any sense. I like theorizing as much as the next person but I should at least have a clear understanding of what a film is about by watching it. In my opinion, a good crop of the people who say The Lighthouse is so good are just pretending to understand it, and think that because it's so strange that it is good. They get good chemistry between Dafoe and Pattinson and great performances confused with an actual good story.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire was the best film of 2019.

Take this (you), (you) based bro.

In my opinion you are retarded and can't watch that many films. In fact i don't think you have even seen Tarkovsky's filmography.

>muh eggman, muh ari, muh safdie XD
>nu-reddit directors
You have to be over 18 to post on this board.

Today I will remind them.

Based. You seem like the kind of man who appreciates a nice S Craig Zahler kino.

Pleb take

You don't understand. I don't need everything in a movie to be explained to me by the movie, but The Lighthouse gave me absolutely nothing to work with. I resent your condescension.

Utterly backwards

you're a faggot

>bro
Stick to normal movies then. You should be fucking embarrassed to criticize a movie by calling it "weird" yet you're here confidently elaborating on your complete lack of taste. Stay away from "weird and obscure" movies, they suck! Why can't every movie just be normal for chads like us?

>teenage spic detected

>t. fedora chinlet

Eggers for sure. Its really not even close.
The Witch, The Ligthouse, and Hereditary are all great films. Where Aster falls short is Midsommar, which is unironically the most pretentious pile of shit i've ever seen.

You deserve every bit of my condescension. You are either massively stupid or new to cinema, either way you are spouting bullshit. I appreciate that you actually wrote some coherent sentences and tried to expand your opinion. That doesn't change the fact that it was utterly retarded.

Midsommar is THE pleb filter of last year, the basedhouse is only good for a few memes but doesn't resonate, much like the (forgotten) vvitch

whiter than you, pablo

Yes. The Wicker Man in Sweden with underdeveloped characters and relationships, with cringy zoomer tier humour is a pleb filter.

My favorite part of Midsommar was when the old whites jumped off the cliff and the camera zoomed in on the black guy making a funny face then he said "these crackas sho do be crazy as hell doe"

Filtered.

How is my opinion bullshit?

I did not enjoy the movie because the movie has no clear meaning to me. It is a failure of the movie, because it didn't convey it's own meaning to me. Let me ask you: what is The Lighthouse about?

why do you call it the basedhouse then

Seethe harder bro, let neptune strike ye dead bro, honestly why would a chad like me even want to share your taste. A virgin dweeb like you is probably just too afraid to dislike critically acclaimed films

Great argument Ari. Go rip off Greenaway some more.

Your failure is to assume that films should have some universal meaning that should be conveyed to you.

>underdeveloped characters and relationships
ikr? Epic cringe! Why can't every movie be like my superheroes?

eggers without a doubt

$öylent based

I have seen Eggers films but not the other guys, so you tell me

>what is The Lighthouse about
Not him but for me it's about ego and the fragility of man.

s󠛡oy

I don't watch capeshit but if it helps you to cope with your terrible taste then keep projecting.

Idk why you use the word universal. A movie might have a very specific and uncommon message or reason for its existence, and its job is to communicate that to the audience.

I'm not trying to be an asshole but can you tell me, in your opinion based on your viewing of it, what The Lighthouse is about?

>american folk tale kinographer
>satanic occultist

It's about guilt and sins of a man eating him alive.
No. Films, don't have to have a message and it's not their job to communicate any sort of message to the audience. That's some primary school tier view of films.

>I don't watch capeshit but if it helps you to cope with your terrible taste then keep projecting.

Attached: images (4).jpg (259x194, 3.83K)

How can you say it's about guilt and then in the next breath say films don't need to have a message

>your terrible taste
I don't even like Midsommar, but what I really can't stand is dogshit excuses for criticism from spoonfed brainlets who've never been taught to think for themselves.

Are you serious?

Do you have any reading comprehension at all?
>if the criticism is commonly used that means it's invalid
>everybody has to write dissertation on why he didn't like given film so that the people on here can ignore it
Yes, you can go fuck yourself.

Beans

>Wahhh I might get ignored that means I don't have to back my claims

Absolute faggot.
