Who is stopping anime films from being distributed to theaters? Kids would rather see that shit over the next glossy pixar sequel.
Who is stopping anime films from being distributed to theaters...
BULOLIIIIIIIIIIIII!!
KAKAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
GO BROLY GO GO
GO BROLY GO GO
well?
>them
Because anime is cringeworthy garbage, now kys tranny freak
No? Regal screens Anime all the time. In fact, each year they do a fucking week of Ghibli. Granted, they only do this at their bigger theaters but the point remains.
Appeal, anime is not as big as it use to be in the west and is considered a niche form of media nowadays. Western media is biased too and will only shill whatever is produced in it's borders.
>anime is not as big as it use to be in the west
Are you retarded? I don't even watch Anime but literally 5 seconds in Google shows that viewership has only gone up. This is probably because now it's fine for spics and nogs to watch without being bullied; but if you're white and you watch anime then you're probably a school shooter so you should report those people on sight.
Broly was better than most western shit, it just needed to be like 20 mins longer, the intro with the saiyans was good shit & i wish they didn't cut the scenes with younger vegeta, raditz & nappa
In 2019 there were two anime movies in the top 10 of the Japanese box office.
One was the rain one, which was released in western theatres. This is a Ghibli tier exception to the rule.
The other (and this is more in line with the overall issue) was the 9th one piece movie.
In order for a film like this to make money in western cinema the manga and anime scene would be much larger (not to mention digital distribution seems to work with the western anime audience).
Not to mention this is not an original movie, it's part of a massive franchise to get big (even in Japan) original anime movies would not work in the west.
Conversely, you also have to issue that a movie based on an existing series has the barrier to entry of mostly catching preexisting fans.
Cause anime sucks now, it's all moeshit. Shonen is really the only genre that normies care about which pretty much narrows it down to a small majority.
Its worth pointing out Even fucking DBZ broly only made 10 mil in japan at the box office and was 38th that year behind a lot of non anime movies.
>jewgle
It's getting realesed in America. Usually the bigger ones are winning 3-5M$. Weathering with you was like 12M€ in US.
Japs have shit taste
Nothing? I saw broly in theaters
Then why do these films make a small fraction of any Pixar/Dreamworks/Illu/etc. film?
Because they don't make money.
Now take this shit to
It still made a fuck ton of money worldwide and did better than it's predecessors. Sure dragon ball isn't top dog anymore but it still brings in a lot of money.
It's not taste, its market. Even in the market where there is essentially no stigma for an adult to go see a cartoon movie; a massive movie from a massive franchise can still do that poorly.
Also, why conflate cinema presence with prestige? Digital distribution or physicals ultimately result in everyone getting a bigger piece of the pie, cinema is just a middle man.
>Broly made more than Onward
OH NO NO NO NO
That goes for a lot of anime in general, Japs produce a lot of live action movies each year and tend to overshadow anime productions.
>a massive movie from a massive franchise
Dragonball was not that massive when Broly came out.
>anime is not as big as it use to be in the west
here in the netherlands they showed the latest dbz movie and weathering with you in the largest theater chain in japanese, dbz was completely packed
Cause the west has been brainwashed into eating up whatever propoganda their media shits out.
it's the exact opposite, are you a fucking idiot or something?
And anime isn’t propaganda?
>i wish they didn't cut the scenes with younger vegeta
whoa whoa whoa... do the scenes exist on the internet?
Well, you have your answer as to why they don't release anime movies often in our theatres. They clearly don't make enough money/people aren't conditioned to accept them. There's nothing you can really do about it. If they made money they would do it.
You're retarded, super had just ended a couple of months prior and it brought in the most money db had ever seen, also the arcade games are the hottest thing in nipland right now. Db is still pretty big there.
No one liked Super. By arcade game if you mean Fighterz, its popular because its a clone of Marvel 2.
>no one liked super
Yeah I guess that's why it's been making so much money right? Also heroes is more popular in japan than fighterz is.
I guess Japan just has shit taste then cause that game looks super shitty.
welp, I did the research. There aren't any cut scenes. Only storyboards that were left on the drawing board. Nothing to see.
>I guess Japan just has shit taste
Yes, Japan always has had shit taste and always will. Don't let weebs fool you into thinking otherwise
DBS Broly grossed $120 million worldwide on an $8 million budget
The franchise is more popular than it's EVER been.
>Threat talking about why corporations don't make a business decision
>Taste
Claps just don't get it do they? Corporations only care about money.
Bandai updated the game recently and it looks a lot better. It's running on the same engine as budokai.
I can confirm. When I went to see the Broly movie my experience was ruined by dozens of children who would not stop talking to themselves for the entire god damn runtime.
That has nothing to do with anime as a whole, also the pokeman movie that came out in the late 90's made twice that.
millions of flies love eating shit
It's a good thing that Dragon Ball Super Broly made $124.5 million on a $8.5m budget, eh?
Idk if you're trying to spread misinformation or just didn't google right, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just call you retarded.
>It's running on the same engine as budokai
So then its still shit.
Well that's sort of true, the main money maker right now is games. Gachashit is huge in japan and makes millions of dollars a year, it's why dokkan, heroes and legends is so popular and caught on in the west.
Nothing in that post is wrong though that was the box office in Japan?
I mean it made more in America than Japan.
Anime is designed to appeal to a much broader demographic, mainly teens and young adults. Keeping in mind kids fucking love anime more than any other age group, it should rake in a bigger audience grab than shitty disney/pixar does.
>in Japan
It helps to read all of the post.
In Japan Broly didn't even beat the yearly Conan movie.
Doesn't gundam make a shit ton of money in nipland?
Reminder everything about super is shit especially the nubroly movie.
Mecha is still pretty huge in japan, but mainly cause of gundam and gunpla.
Then why the fuck did it never catch on in the west?
The anime genre is pretty dead. The gundam models are the only thing that justifies the low budget low effort yearly series.
Cause the west has garbage taste.
Robotech and Voltron were the biggest western anime in the 80s zoom zooms.
Chinks don't know how to market their shit so a sizeable audience would turn up at the theaters in the relevant time window. They can't just rely on pirates and niche fans to do the promoting for them like they did with regular anime series.
Because Gundam Wing is based.
Mecha was big during the anime boom in the 80's and 90's in the west but lost steam shortly after. Shonen just has a wider appeal cause the writing is less complex which gave it more staying power.
Wing is the worst installment in the series.
People who run the theaters and the movie distributors didn't grow up in a time when anime was big, so they don't understand that tons of people would pay for it. Think about how retarded the average hollywood producer is, they understand nothing about what the public wants. The perception that anime isn't marketable is slowly changing however.
How can it be the worst when it has the best lead?
>in the 80s
Is it still the 80s? Or is it 40 years later?
