Westerns thread

3 things we all can agree on
1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the GOAT
2. Horror westerns are the most underutilized kino
3. Ringo would have pushed Coward Earp's shit in

1. For a Few Dollars More is the best of the Dollar's Trilogy

fpbp.
when will TGTBATU fags see that FAFDM is better paced, has the better ending and the better bad guy?

>Horror westerns are the most underutilized kino
continuing on from this, stephen king's the dark tower is a pile of shit wrapped in wasted potential, and someone desperately needs to do a horror fantasy western series right

Better than Fistful, but you're still retarded. I'd even go so far as to put Unforgiven over FaFDM. Those chime scenes were intense though

Have you seen The Burrowers? Great movie. Dark Tower went to shit after Wizard and Glass. Once he wrote himself in, it just got silly. It would be like GRRM making himself cure greyscale in ASoIaF

>better paced
Ok
> has the better ending
Impossible
>and the better bad guy
That wetback was cold, but to call him.better than LVC is one of the stupidest things I've read outside of /lit/

>the cup spinning
tryhard got wrecked

Unforgiven is the GOAT.

>It would be like GRRM making himself cure greyscale in ASoIaF
That's literally what he did though.
Sam was a GRRM self-insert. He's said so several times.

Is "The Mandalorian" Space Western now ?

Horror Western : Bone Tomahawk

Authors do self-inserts as characters all the time. King literally wrote himself into the Dark Tower meeting Roland and getting saved by Jake when that drunk hit him.

Great movie. Zahler wrote two other ultraviolent westerns as well. One was decent (Congregation of Jackals) and one was great (Wraiths of the Broken Plains). I'd love to see him make the latter. Fucking brutal and the man can really write badass villians. If Blood Meridian ever gets made, I'd accept Zahler, the Coens, or Ridley Scott.

>tryhard
Johnny Ringo was one of the most feqred gunfighters in the Old West. As much as I liked the film and its general adherence to historical accuracy, there's no way in hell Ringo got killed by Doc.

didn't he kill himself irl? Or that's what some think anyway

This will never be made into a film

OUATITW is GOAT

Rango is based.

Been saying this for years and I'm glad it's gaining traction. TGTBATU is fantastic and has a lot going for it, but it's still #2

His death was ruled a suicide, but all the rats came crawling out of the woodwork to try to take credit, no matter how implausible the theory. Earp and Holliday were nowhere near him. Some guy named Frank Leslie has the strongest case imo, but I don't see how he could have beat Johnny and if he were after game, why make it look like a suicide?

Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one. He was a haunted and hunted guy with multiple murders on his conscience, his horse had split with his boots, and he was stuck in the middle of nowhere. Likeliest scenerio is he just said 'Fuck it, I'm done'.

>King literally wrote himself into the Dark Tower meeting Roland and getting saved by Jake when that drunk hit him.
Well that sounds particularly dumb. I'm glad I stopped after the train book. I thought THAT one was dumb.

Tombstone taught me the only valid way to respond to being outnumbered and potentially a dead man

>Been saying this for years and I'm glad it's gaining traction
I'm neutral on the debate, and to me it seems FaFDMfags were the reigning champs but TGTBATUfags are taking over

guys
Once Upon A Time In The West is the best Western.
TGTBATU is a cartoon, an entertaining cartoon
OUATITW is real shit

*After fame, not game. Nice autocorrect, niggerphone.

Back on the subjects of horror westerns, is Dead Birds worth a watch? Love Michael Shannon and the genre. About to start either that or Kairo after this thread dies. Any other horror western recs? Doesn't even need to be supernatural, just bloody fun like The Proposition or that Ti West Valley of Violence one.

I prefer American westerns

I want to kill every fucking incel contrarian dipshit who parrots this garbage opinion just for the sake of contrarianism, TGTBATU is greatest western ever made and your edgy snowflake opinion isn’t going to change that, faggots.

Can we all agree that Peckinpah is better than Leone and Sergio only got lucky with casting Eastwood?

Amen. Nobody is saying that FaFDM isn't a great fucking movie, but TGTBATU is one of the best movies ever made in ANY genre (I have it top 5). I honestly can't tell if people are trolling or just stupid.

Spaghetti Western fags are the original contrarians. Everyone though Good Bad and the Ugly was garbage back in the sixties

what's the other 4?

Godfather
Godfather Part 2
Shawshank Redemption
The Dark Knight

Still a better story if doc did it.

I sincerely think it's better

>For a Few Dollars More
Based.
i like that Lee Van Cleef was a good guy and the character of Gian Maria Volonte (el Indio) is Iconic and Chad as fuck.

Uff, is hard to say what is the best of the trilogy

No particular order other than TCM at 1, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre, One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest, Taxi Driver, and Saving Private Ryan (pleb choice I suppose...I realize it's jingoistic propaganda and saw it before I knew about the jews, but what can I say - I loved it.)

what's the point of this movie? The whole plot make no sense

Attached: 71NCgiSbrNL._SL1500_.jpg (1074x1500, 131.35K)

Not meBut these are all top 40

kek my post making fun of what you'd pick wasn't very far off. Nothing wrong with a high school's taste, they're not bad movies, just extremely generic.

Based retard. What exactly confused you here? Wasn't all that challenging plot-wise. Shit-tier casting of the kid dropped it to a 9/10, but still a masterpiece and one of Clint's best directing jobs

The Searchers is the greatest western ever made. This thread is filled with zoomers who have only ever watched spaghetti westerns and think they know anything about the genre.

I'm a fan of backhanded compliments. What's your top 5? Not going to crack on them for being pretentious but I'm genuinely curious. Maybe you can educate me with your refined sense if taste.

Searchers wasn't even Wayne's best. If you're going to come in hot like that, you might want to avoid sounding like an idiot.

Mine's in constant flux but I'll pick the top three I like right now. Adaptation, A Serious Man, and Leave No Trace come to mind. I'm not full on pretentious, but a lot of the top 250 on IMDB kind of bore me nowadays. Extremely competent to the point of being boring.

Good.

The transition beetween old fag to cold death machine of the main character seems stupid. Ok, they killed his nigger friend, but really? Just a sip of liquor and he became terminator?

Oh really? And what was his best, in your humble opinion?

Im with you my brother

i simply don't get how some sip of liquor make him become a death machine

did you skip the entire conversation he had during that moment?

That is what he always was. He tried to change for his dead wife, but circumstances brought him back in the end.

I watch movies on 1.5 speed or 2.0 if it's really boring in some moments

Recommend me good dark and violence fullfilled western kinos like pic related

Kill yourself.

I saw the 216 minute cut of Heaven's gate a few months ago and it was well worth it. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who has the patience to watch it all in one go, the immersion and richness are totally rewarding

Nah it doesn’t. FaFDM is a recent thing.

>Horror westerns are the most underutilized kino
Funny you should say that i just watched this with my dad last night. Can anyone recommend any others?

TGTBTU is the best because it has the best pacing for it's length with only Lawrence of Arabia being better. It has the best soundtrack, the best set pieces and the best finale of any western. For a few dollars more is still fantastic but it doesn't come close to the journey in TGTBTU

I'll give A Serious Man a shot. Loved that actor in BWE. I thought you were going to say Stalker or some Jodorowsky shit.

The Burrowers, but I personally didn't care for it. Started off good, but I hated the ending.

They were expendable and the man who shot liberty valance for two. I'd say True Grit but I doubt you'd take the bait

>1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the GOAT
No it isn't. For a Few Dollars More is superior.
>2. Horror westerns are the most underutilized kino
Yes.
>3. Ringo would have pushed Coward Earp's shit in
Yes? Earp even admits this in the movie.

all pleb opinions, best western coming through

Attached: image.jpg (1600x900, 327.56K)

If you're into books, read Crossings by Jack Ketchum (rip). He's the guy that wrote The Girl Next Door (the fucked up one)

Good, Bad, Ugly isnt even the best in its own trilogy. Gj brainlet

>3. Ringo would have pushed Coward Earp's shit in
everyone knew that, why do you think Doc went in his place

>see the trilogy without really knowing anything about what's considered the best
>prefer For a Few Dollars More my entire life

>sounding like an idiot
Oh yeah, kinda like saying the film widely considered to be the greatest western ever made actually isn't even the best one starring John Wayne and then naming two other films that he starred in, one of which isn't even a western, without explaining what makes them better.

Based insecure schizo poster yelling at no one in particular

>They Were Expendable
>in a thread about greatest westerns of all time

Look, I won't split hairs with you. Liberty Valance is great and he was great in it, but it was shot like a television western. The Searchers is better film all around and you know it, Wayne's performance notwithstanding.

Real Kino coming through
