No, he played the part he was designed for by creating the new more optimized iteration of the matrix. The Oracle (most human program) and the Architect (most machinelike program) came together to craft/modify The One (Thomas Anderson in this case, the living embodiment of both man and machine). Humanity is analogous to hedonistic indulgence (see the sweaty rave sex scene in reloaded) while the machines are analogous to self mortification (the dry uncaring calculated nature of the Architect) in the context of Buddhism. Neo is supposed to become the perfect synthesis of the two representing the middle path. The One exists as an experiment which will be exposed to extreme pressures and tests to check for viability (Think Angels from Evangelion and their iterating process marching toward Adam to naturally select for a variant appropriate for the planet's environment). If he can jump the hurdles and pass these tests, he will have proven himself fully formed and proper (enlightened), capable of surpassing the singular natures of flesh and circuitry. He then can have his code reinserted into the mainframe to reboot the matrix in a new and improved iteration, at some point the next One will be created and the cycle will begin again.

I have a sneaking suspicion this next movie will concern this next cycle, and the new One. But this time we'll view it from the perspective of Neo and Trinity who are now programs and will play roles similar to Seraph, The Merovingian or the Keymaker from the original trilogy.

The architect dialogue doesn't support this. He specifically states he brought the Oracle on board to model the Matrix because he couldn't find a solution the human mind accepted by himself. He then goes on to say she found a solution accepted by 99% of minds, a fundamentallly flawed solution since some people still reject the matrix and eventually an anomaly appears (The One) which he deals with by forcing the anomaly to dissolve into the source (go back to the source or every human will die "choice") before rebooting. At no point does he mention iteratively improving the matrix after each reboot.

The way I see it, the Oracle empaphizes with humans since she's built to understand them, and she's directly responsible for wakers and the emergence of the One (remember she's the one that came up with the settings that make this happen). During each iteration, she tries to guide the wakers and the One in a way that will put them in a position to bargain for peace, which succeeded wth Neo.

No he doesn't. But he also isn't entirely telling the truth with regards to the choice he presents Neo at the end of that dialogue. He is given the choice to either choose the right door and save Trinity, damning Zion, or choose the left, reinserting his code and selecting the next 23 to survive the purge of Zion and begin anew. He chooses Trinity and although he isn't wrong about the fact that she will die and he can't stop it, or the fact that they wouldn't meet again, his ultimatum was not accurate or as final as he presented it, as he ends up saving both Zion and the matrix as a whole anyway.

Like I said the encounter with the Architect represents pressure which was but one of many steps to a dance which results in a new more fit version of the matrix, and a step forward of man and machine together. What do you think the final scene after Sati paints the sunrise, where the Architect and Oracle come together to talk about Neo's, success is all about. What Neo ended up doing was the ultimate plan. Incidentally this is the culmination of the major twist of the entire trilogy and most people miss the subtext and implications because they're so overstimulated and blown out from the 20 minute chase and fightscenes. Neo chose to surpass what he believed to be his limits, to find enlightenment, and in the end follow the optimal plan laid down by machines. That's the paradox (his mastery both of passion and asceticism) and that's why there's so much allusion to eastern spiritualism and philosophy in general. Was a massive fan of the matrix and reloaded (despite reloaded's downfalls). 3rd was such a huge disappointment that I wrote it off as fanfiction.
