It's going to take a long time for Doctor Who to mend itself, and honestly they way it's been slaughtered makes it all the more difficult to try make course corrections, especially when the lore and canon has been completely ruined. Doctor Who doesn't just need a new incarnation, it needs a full on reboot. I predict that Who will maybe have another few seasons left, then BBC will announce a break for the show, and it will be in limbo for a while. It's going to take some autistic auteur or maybe some left-of-field third party studio to take the property and revive it.

He's been a lot more open about talking about Doctor Who lately since the 50th, and the smaller scale and more creator-driven atmosphere of Big Finish would be really appealing to him. I have faith we'll see a little something(s) for the 60th. Maybe more of the Classics Doctors dying will persuade him too.
