i feel like he's pretty consistently just argued for nuance, and for jokes to be good because they're funny, not because they're controversial.
The culture isn't "over sensitve", it's just going through a really dumb phase where we believe we need to censor ourselves constantly out of the off-chance that we might offend someone.

The idea of just not being a jerk to people and not actively making others' daily lives worse isn't crazy--it's good. But what politically correct folks fail to realize is that jokes about stereotypes can be a tool to bridge the gap, and shitting on them actually makes it harder for groups to connect. I really don't think Dave has ever claimed that race jokes are wrong. But if their only purpose is to punch down in bad faith, then they're usually not very funny, and the people making them are usually assholes.
