The manga is better, the animators really didn't do the graphic novel art justice. Scenes that were absolute kino in the graphic novel look bad in the animation.

Read the manga. Hirohiko Araki's style is tailored specifically the medium of comic books, he is a master of paneling action scenes and using the page-turn to deliver gags and plot twists

Stands and fights eventually become so complex and out-there that it requires a lot of narration from the characters to explain - it works fine in a manga where you can read dialogue internally in 1 second, but in the anime it's all spoken so it takes forever. I couldn't watch part 5 because the constant narration was so aggravating it broke the flow of the fights.

Araki is a master at referencing his own work and tying stories together. Unless you start from Phantom Blood (the first part) you’re not going to understand it nearly as much as you should to properly appreciate it. It’s like jumping into a series halfway through and asking who the fuck any of the characters are and what they’re talking about.
Plus, every single part is good. Some are overall better than others and each part has its highs and lows, but JoJo is an excellent series that you won’t regret watching and reading.
I say “and” because the anime is only up to
Vento Aureo, the fifth part, right now while the manga is up to JoJolion, the eighth part.
