>bring back a favorite character
>name an entire show after him
>kill him off in the final episode of the season.
Does CBS think that DIsney/Star wars formula works?
Bring back a favorite character
If they don't retcon this entire fucking show, Star Trek is officially dead.
It's been teetering on the brink since Discovery, but now... I really hope they retcon it. And do it in the most embarrassingly hateful way. Calling out both Discovery and Picard as trash.
It'll never happen, but a man can dream.
>No one’s ever really gone
I presume they killed him because they weren't sure if Patrick Stewart would sign on for another season / they would want him back for another season, considering he's apparently a fickle bitch who wouldn't stop meddling with the script.
I thought Enterprise was shit. When it was airing. Now I look back at it fondly. This is how much shit ST has become. They made me love fucking ENT!
Still a better death than Kirk's though, no?
>life is only life when there is death
>something is beautiful because it is fleeting.
FUCKING SHIT PHILOSOPHY.
Nope, the killed him with convenient brain "abnormality", but right before he died they copied his mind and put it into synthetic body that they made specifically be the perfect copy of his actual body minus the brain tumor. So basically his death was absolutely pointless.
They copied his brain after he died. That's how he remembers dying and Data did not. But whatever, he still died and this thing is just a copy. A walking talking replica. Picard dieded.
>Data: I want to die.
>Picard: Why?
>Data: Because dying means living.
So Data dies by assisted suicide, fucking bullshit. Hippy liberal fucking bullshit.
Kirk go killed by a bridge. Get it?
But fuck you. Picard's death was just the shittiest thing ever. Data looked horrible in the simulation/afterlife and his suit was an obvious cosplay one. It was so bad that it took all the emotions away from his final deactivation.
Cosplay suits look god. This was one of those shitty uniforms that you can by for 15 bucks.
Kirk's meant something at least. Picard was just disposed of.
Ass deep
The only true continuation of star trek is Shatner's twitter.
Ok, I have to admitt, I haven't even seen Picard yet. I just couldn't imagine a worse death than Kirk's. I'm very worried now.
The only real ST after ENT are the novels by Peter David.
Season 2 has been confirmed months before s1 started airing.
You should be. My god, it reminded me of The Room.
Yes, I definetely have cancer/a bain brain abnormality.
Now let's forget about it and explore dpace in my new robot body that is biological and 100% like my old one, mortality included, but without that brain thingy.
Kurtzman is a fucking hack
I thought season 2 was already filmed. They were going to do 1 and 2 without a break.
Corona-sama just killed that second season. No more money.
>Corona-sama just killed that second season
only temporarily, unfortunately.
no, it's not even begun to film
They greenlight every show with a second season in hopes to create a fanbase.
>"Star Trek: Picard renewed for seasons two and three!" -- like half a fucking year ago
>Picard """dies""" at the end of the first season
>doesn't actually die
Whoa I never saw the twist coming
What a fucking load of bullshit. On TNG, Data mentions how that while he will most likely outlive his current friends his components will eventually degrade and fail over time so he will die. Fuck this show.
Voyager is literally a masterpiece compared to modern "Trek". that's how much we've gone down the road already.
Never mind, I'm thinking of season 2-3 that's supposed to be filmed back to back.
At least Picard gave us that great music and based opening sequence. Too bad the show was an actual trash pile on fire. I almost didn't watch the finale. It's the only fucking show I ever saw that I had to convince myself every fucking episode to continue to watch.
It's the never ending "transporters actually kill you and create a clone" theory shitfest all over again, isn't it?
Picard is as much Star Trek as The Terror S2 is The Terror: it ain't. Even STD is more Trek than this garbage.
I never hated VOY. Seven, The Doctor and Janeway (yes, I'm her only fan. I love me some crazy coffee addicted time messing grandma) were based.
be action man before death
>look like a retard
>die
>be brought back in super cyborg body.
I am deathly confused by it, can someone please explain this to me?
>Picard goes to sacrifice his life to stall the Romulans, with the hope of giving the synths a look at true humanity so they'll call off the Reapers
>... but also injects himself with something so he dies faster?
But why? Why that second part? It seems nonsensical. How little it meant and how briefly his "death" lasted I think it was far worse than Kirk's.
frail created biological body, not even a cyborg
>.. but also injects himself with something so he dies faster?
that was to keep him going long enough to do his sacrifice
HOW ABOUT YOU USE THE DAMN EMERGENCY HOLOGRAMS YOU SENILE OLD SHIT
true, but every single time someone gets transported on star trek they might be a copy as well for all we know and the real person is dead. just a facsimile.
Worst than Picard's death was that magic thingy they used. To repair the ship and the create fake ships. That was the dumbest thing ST ever did and they fucking stole Spock's brain at one point!
Why couldn't they give Data a new body though? And why did it sounded like there is only one body to transfer mind into and they cant make more?
>that was to keep him going
Ah, I thought he said something about "speeding up the inevitable", or something along those lines. My bad
>And why did it sounded like there is only one body to transfer mind into and they cant make more?
I don't know what that was about either. Soong and Agnes were still there and they had already figured it out, but Picard said something about Soong's "sacrifice" which I inferred to mean Soong couldn't use the body for immortality himself.
Sounds as if the hard part was figuring out the consciousness transfer, but now they've done that! Make another flesh suit!
>Data
Apparently leaving his consciousness awake in a small grey room for 20 years so he becomes suicidal was a better idea than putting him into a synth
It's time to grow up and stop treating individual products as a single entity or even being interconnected in any but the most superficial way. If you don't like it don't watch it. Quite a few franchises have gone to shit lately but why care? The good old stuff still exists, the new stuff may as well not. I personally visit these threads now and then to read recaps from those who watch this stuff and have a laugh watching the showmakers blunder again and again. It's no different than a comedy sketch based on ST or something.
The only things I'm disappointed about are that some TNG/VOY actors actually went along with it and sold out, and more so that Stewart, who's always been odd, seems to have gone completely senile. Ah well, at least Shatner is still around, now that's an unmarred legend.
ugh thanks for spoiling this for me user i really wasnt looming forward to slogging through 8 more episodes of this garbage
Nope, Voyager is still shit. Thank Kahless they replaced that with the superior DS9 on BBC America.
i'd rather watch Janeway turning into a lizard than any of STD or nu-Picard
Q needs to step in and snap STD and SPIC out of existence. I heard John de Lancie might be interested.
Nah I like Janeway but not Seven. Kate Mulgrew was right to get pissed at her inclusion.
I'm watching RLM thing now on prior eps and someone said 9 is "worse than they predicted" the predictions they do are pretty bad so what managed to be worse?
From the outset, some predicted that Picard would die at the end of the season and they telegraphed his terminal condition throughout. I think they left his death in to cover off whether or not it was renewed for another season. Had it not been, they probably would have had him die for real. As they have a second season and Stewart is willing to keep joyriding his own character, they had him reincarnated as PicardBot.
>on BBC America
Fucking hell user. You actually watch tv by what is shoveled up to you like they did back in the last century?
actors aren't people with integrity dude they just show up to jobs and wiggle their face
And it wont be now. They cant cart out 90 year old man to set now. It will be at least 18 months until this blows over and it will be too late then.
Very few actors arnt that passionate about show/movie or their character. That's why character assassination of Luke hurt so much.
As much as I hate nuTrek and Stewart's continual subversion of Picard, it was horrible watching him die (as with Kirk); before getting faked out by the reincarnation. I was pretty surprised they took it that way.
Arguably it would have been better to leave the death as final, but they got another season. One of the reasons I didn't like Picard returning (despite wanting a post-NEM show for 18 years) was seeing him be old, retired, doddery and probably dying on screen.
Mass Effect ripping off was confirmed. They added another secret Soong relative. Giant space flowers that have the same powers as giant space flowers from some video game. More eye torture fetishism.
>Very few actors arnt that passionate about show/movie or their character.
what fucking childrens world do you live in
>Star Wars killed by newest installment
>Doctor Who killed by newest installment
>Star Trek killed by newest installment
why do they keep doing it bros?
They'll just use a cgi Picard and have him voice it. "I look plasticy because I'm an aaaaandroid"
they are satanists
a straight white male lead character? Of course they killed him. Need the POC womyn in charge.
They didnt kill him. It was part of his heroes journey.
But no, he didnt die
Star Wars was killed with Phantom Menace
Star Trek died with whatever came after DS9
Doctor Who died when that big nose northern guy left and was replaced by the guy with the hair.
They won't rest until every aspect of life that is enjoyed almost exclusively by men is subverted and ruined in the hopes of getting more people to watch it.
>mfw
So in like a decade, every species will have access to immortality
I hate it when franchises introduce world destroying components to it
#MeToo
But Enterprise was always good
'Trekkies' hated it because of it's chad energy
Shatner spoke against coming back as Kirk, for example, stating that his story was complete.
Makes sense to turn down bad offers when you're attached to the character you've played. Maybe the other guys were just short on money and had to do a gig.
