I always found Daphne nice but completely brainless. Niles lusting after was fine, but actually having an intimate relationship stretched my suspension of disbelief too far. And some comedic themes were lost: Niles making a fool of himself in front of Daphne and all the Maris jokes.

Very true for The Simpsons. Season 9 is regarded as the last good season since the team changed for 10 and beyond. It feels more like a fever dream now though, it's sickening.
