quick question 30 minutes into annihilation
what was the reason for the all female science team?
the reason i was given was that all previous teams where soldiers "and thus male"
while the new team is scientists "and thus female"
Is this not our regular earth, is this an alternative place where man cannot be researchers and females cannot be soldiers?
but is that is so what about the male researcher interrogating, or is he not a researcher but an interrogator?
i have not read the book so did the movie drop a few worldbuilding scenes or am i missing something?
Quick question 30 minutes into annihilation
You write like a retard.
No idea, the movie wasn't very good. Looked cool tho.
Takes one to know one.
>takes one to know one
Wow you really destroyed me with that one, user.
The book says the Southern Reach (org setting the whole operation up) organized tons of different parties with random variables like same birthdays or genders etc. This particular group is all women just to follow the next link in the chain of fishing for reactions from Area X, they know so little about it that any single deviation or change from a previous expedition is catalogued and repeated. Good movie but leaves a lot out.
>Takes one to know one.
BTFO'd
He actually did
Can you rewrite it so i know how to not sound like a retard?
Why didn't they use robots on really long tethers?
They have no idea why teams aren't coming back, but all the previous teams were male. At this point they're just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Does the book ever explain why they would even expect different results based on gender and other stupid shit? Doesn't seem very scientific.
It's just an inferior version of Roadside Picnic/Stalker anyway.
Thanks. the implication that the team was female because they are scientists confused me.
I can't be bothered right now, sorry.
In the book its explained that noone ever returned. So they tried sending in different types of people. Soldiers, scientists etc, but they had never sent only women.
The book and the film are both retarded. Dont try to read too much into it.
read
Because the organization is so desperate to learn anything at all because nearly every single expedition has failed horribly, and because the rules within Area X could feasibly be so alien that a shared birthdate or gender or whatever would mstter.
WAIT WTF,
HOW WAS SHE NOT DAMAGED FROM A GIANT CROC BITING HER LEG
also how do you miss a giant croc from 1 meter.
Turn it off. Watch the bear scene on youtube. Garbage movie. You're welcome.
It wasn’t “soldier, therefore male.” It was because just because of the law of averages, they’d already sent an all-male team through and wanted to see if all-female would fare any differently.
then why did they not say that? they where talking about scientists and soldiers.
also we have plenty of female soldiers to make a team
Nothing in this movie makes a lot of sense. It's got great style and a few really nice action sequences, but nothing about it stands up to closer inquiry.
the book is great if you enjoy surreal literature
It is a soulless, retarded exaltation that "science" and feminism are peaceful, and that masculinity is inherently militant and violent and dangerous, thus the zone will treat the female scientists with more respect than the male soldiers.
EVEN THOUGH THE FUCKING WOMEN ARE ARMED AND SHOOT AT THE MONSTERS AND THEY EVEN PLANNED ON DOING SO GOING IN.
THE ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE IS A SOULLESS REMAKE OF STALKER. I AM NOT EVEN MEMEING: THEY TOOK STALKER, REPLACED GOD WITH SCIENCE, AND THEN ADDED IN NEO-MARXIST GENDER THEORY THAT IS LITERALLY THE FUCKING MOVIE
The movie isn’t supposed to make sense or be “real” however i did like the part where natalie portman got BLACKED
wrong. The logic, as explained in the movie, was that all military expeditions failed so they wanted to send in a scientific expedition. The fact that all the scientists are women is subtext; it is not given as a reason for trying. The association of science/peace/women is subtextual, and it makes no fucking sense as they are armed anyway and NEEDED TO BE.
>The movie isn’t supposed to make sense
yes it is, up until the surrealist ending. And even then everything is supposed to have metaphorical meaning.
Why don’t people like this movie? Is it because it has women in it?
Because the drama, acting, and plot are SHIT and make no fucking sense.
superior netflix kino, coming through
This
Its a piece of rip off trash and belongs in the garbage
That movie was fucking great, got some CoC RPG vibes from it.
I liked it, most of the people in this thread seemed triggered about the women, which tracks with the reaction on gamergatechan when it came out.
definetly up there with other lovecraft kino like cold skin
I think you write fine user :)
There is a difference between being triggered by women and being triggered by the subtext that armed scientist women are, in any way, discernable from male military forces in the context of the zone.
i just finished and i didnt get it.
So basically you're saying that you are a retard?
>also we have plenty of female soldiers to make a team
Not really
>The proportion of female military personnel varies internationally; for example, it is approximately 3% in India, 10% in the UK,[44] 15% in France,[45] 13% in Sweden,[46] 16% in the US,[47] 15.3% in Canada,[48] and 27% in South Africa.[49] While a marginal percentage of women are reported in military service globally, estimates following the increasing trend of military women capped predictions at about 10% for 1980.
I just viewed a "i am mother" explained video on my recommended after watching the explained for this one.
looks decent and it has a decent score on rotten tomato's
Looked at 10 seconds of the trailer and it seems nice.
knowing absolutely nothing about this i can say it looks awful
just like annihilation
Will we ever get a proper adaptation of Roadside Picnic though? Stalker was only similar in the premise of the zone and granting wishes and Annihilation was just Stalker with monsters. I want my hell slime and bug traps.
The only good things about this movie were the Bear and the zone itself.
wow i didn't know this movie was such a pleb filter until now
>who knows let's just throw some women at it maybe it will make a difference
>FUCK YOU YOU CANT IMPLY THAT WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT FROM MEN
??? Are you mad that it's sexist because you're a tumblerina or are you mad that women might succeed because you're a retarded misogynist? Either way you're being a triggered faggot because it's really not that big a point in the movie, they just have no idea what to throw at this thing any more and they are just trying random shit
I get that. i just dont know why that was not said. instead it was implied
>scientis = female
>soldier = male
which i also fine with if that is the world they live in.
((Interracial)) relationship
They do make her look like shit for cheating though.
>Is this not our regular earth, is this an alternative place where females cannot be soldiers?
Nope. It's just the real earth that we are currently living on
>Natalie Portman sleeps with black man in movie
>suddenly, J00z are white according to Yas Forumsyps
This was interesting.
that wasn’t implied, idiot
Sure seemed like it to me.
>all women
>scientists
>the previous teams have been largely military, so, yeah.
Dont know but its a good movie although natalie portman as a commando is not believable.
Nigger I put (()) because most viewers have no idea she is Jewish and is presented as white.
Yeah pretty weird to send mostly male military personnel into a hostile unknown that people don’t return from.
so why not send either
A: female soldier
B: trained male scientists , which the army has a few of
Why not send a whole fucking army with APCs and tanks? Why not send drones? Why not send a team and tell them to return as soon as they will encounter first weird thing?
>most viewers have no idea she is Jewish
yes they do
>presented as white
what the fuck does this even mean you moron? you’re just panicking because Jews in interracial relationships in movies disproves your whole incel victim agenda
i didnt
and her scenes at the start portray as middleamerica
The book states that some of the previous teams had male scientists. “Largely military” does not imply a lack of male scientists. Learn what the word “largely” means. The whole idea of the movie is that they’re trying new combinations — this time, an all-female team of scientists.
And i am fine with that. it was just not stated as such.
