How do you guys watch a film...

How do you guys watch a film? is it like a passive activity where you mindlessly consume it as just a product or do you view it through the perspective of a critic?

try and balance the two

Depends on the film. Some films require more thought than others. Some are meant to just be experienced.

At home, generally pausing and rewinding scenes I want to watch again while screaming at the screen.

You have to be really drunk or stoned, or at least I do. Otherwise I need a more interactive medium like books or games

pretty much this it depends

If there is a cool action scene I like to stand up and punch the air and pretend I'm fighting the bad guys and if it's really exciting I'll rock back and forth in place while I punch.

mostly I sit on my phone until something interesting starts happening, usually i can tell when the music starts or loud noises start happening

I only view movies while browsing, they are too boring otherwise.

With one hand on my pee pee so whenever a lewd scene comes up I'll have immediate access to pleasure

this is pathetic but I usually play out scenes in my head while the movie is on if the movie is compelling enough I actually put myself in it if its not I basically pretend my own movie is happening

It’s hard to watch films if you’re life isn’t settled or fulfilled like you can only really enjoy them when there’s no other thoughts in your head that distracts you Like why don’t I have a gf or why do I hate my job
When you’ve settled those issues then you can truly enjoy kino

depends on the movie, I like horror films though, they are more of an experience. I don't really watch a lot of drama films or long historical movies. Horror movies make you feel and react, i fall asleep otherwise.

real shit

i have a little notepad with "kinos" written on the front and i mostly just write nonsense in it and the times of the cool bits
it makes me feel cosy

nobody on here actually watches movies. they may put one on and let there eyes and ears be distracted, but they rarely watch.
To watch a movie, you must be aware of all the elements at all times/ The lighting, the sound design, the writing, the acting, the editing, the cinematography, hell even what lens is being used, it should at least be on your radar.
Most film critics have no knowledge or awareness of these things. .005% of Yas Forums users have knowledge of these things.
But because cinema has been deemed not a high art but rather a product for the consumer masses, it is something that everyone, even the dumbest most ignorant morons feel that they're qualified to share their ""opinions"". Hence why there's many on here who praise Snyder, or the billions who rave about Marvel.
None of them actually watch movies.

same

i can only do it socially , i space out too much and miss chunks of the movie if i try watching on my own.

See: I'm the complete opposite. I rarely watch even a tv show without rewinding and rewatching scenes multiple times. I have literally never watched anything without at least talking to the screen, and typically yelling at it like a total lunatic.

Yeah, you don't watch movies either. You've never watched a movie in your life.

Fuck cats

Too many of you just want to be a critic, and forego any effort to enjoy what you watch. Many of you are so mad before you see the first scene, you just want to judge rather than enjoy.

>To watch a movie, you must be aware of all the elements at all times
But most movies don't require that much attention. The reason cinema isn't high art is because look at it

Funny because after I watched The Power Rangers movie as a kid I was so pumped I ran around the house and was jumping off the table doing karate chops in the air.

Lies.

I just let it wash over me.

I prefer to start a title, have no idea what it will be about and see where it takes me. I’ve found this to be much better than reading a small review or watching a trailer.

You’re autistic for using the word kino. Like are you a 13 year old?

I take notes while watching.

Quote on quote, retard.

I usually just huff my own braps for a good hour or two until I'm numb enough to sit there and endure whatever horrible propaganda-ridden shit Hollywood want to pump up my ass without me asphyxiating on my own vomit.

Calm down, dogfuckee. It's just a reaction image

This is how you're supposed to watch films

yeah and it's the reason why 99% of movies are shit.
It's a vicious cycle. People have no standards, so shit movies are made for people likeCinema could have been high art. And on occasion it is. But the current generation of filmmakers is largely reflective of the average viewer. People with no understanding of the essential elements that comprise cinema.

do people really do this? What kind of notes?

Most of the time when I'm watching a film, I'm thinking about unrelated topics that connect with imagery in the film, and it gives me a deeper understanding of what I'm watching and how it connects to reality.

i view films through a thematic/sociopolitical lens, and only after i'm done watching it, never during unless it's blatantly political.

It's boring, but I find something that sounds pretty good, have a cigarette before, and watch the movie.

Movies are purely a past-time activity for relaxing. Movies that claim to be sophisticated or deep are just coping for their awful plots. They're made by failed novel writers and it's unfortunate that their are psueds that lie about enjoying them.

Big brain over here

When I'm really into a movie I get emotional in varying stages. Sometimes I'm actually tired after viewing kino.

Movies can be sophisticated or deliver complex messages. I agree you can only explain so much visually though

>I agree you can only explain so much visually
do you know what paintings are?

It's real horrorshow.

No u , faggot

yeah all art is the same thing, expressing an idea or emotion/feeling through a medium. But we're talking specially movies, you can only explain so much of a story visually, is what I meant.

I usually try to watch one movie on my laptop and one film on my TV set. Can get through more movies per day that way.

Based

I watch them with my eyes.

If i invest myself everything becomes bland and boring so i watch the most pleb capeshit to keep myself entertained

JOSE CONSECO BITCH

By myself I watch it intently, with roommates we usually rip on it.

I watch them without distractions. No cellphone or internet and preferably on my own. I always watch them passively, I just let it wash over me.

The problem is that most mainstream movies have so much exposition and retarded flaws that you are pulled out of the movie in a very jarringly way.

>How do you guys watch a film?
Well you have to be in the mood to watch a movie first. Because putting it on the DVD player takes effort so you choose the movie you want to see. For the scenes or if it can still holds up even though you saw it already. You can put a movie you don’t care about or really like a lot just because; while you do things like eat or clean the house. Those types of movies you typically don’t care about because you want to have something on in the background.
> is it like a passive activity where you mindlessly consume it as just a product
The only way You see a movie in a passive or mindless sense is if it is a movie you never seen before or a new on in the theaters. Typically these types of movies are new so you allow it to wash over you and let it happen. Every time a cliche or shit you seen before scene or repetitive generic music cue happens, you degrade the film down to a “mysterious-potentially-kino Art piece,” to just another generic bullshit some retard wrote to take money from you. From then on you begin to look at the movie to a lesser extent and focus on eating your popcorn with the nacho cheese. You just watch the movie as just another piece of shit movie, and wait till it ends. Seeing how it can subvert your expectations with the ending. If it does not undergo cliches or it begins to do things you never seen before, you begin to let the movie grab you by the hand, and you hope you feel something by the end of the movie.
> or do you view it through the perspective of a critic?
It depends if you are in the mood to look at it as a “critic.” Sometimes you’re just too tired and want to put up a piece of shit movie to see how people put so much money, time, and effort to produce a steaming pile of shit. Other times you put a movie ready to tear it to fucking shreds from frame one.

this
dont try too hard to overanalyze, just enjoy the movie
then after the movie is when I take time to think about it. if its a particularly deep or enjoyable movie then I'll rewatch it with a more critical eye

Recently after I finish a movie I started writing down what the themes of the movie are and try to parallel them with real life. Then I google *Movie name* themes and hope I got some of them right.

Of course not for capeshit/brainless action movies/comedies
