We didn't deserve this fucking show. Hillenburg was a genius. I watched the first few seasons again as an adult and it's crazy how many adult themes they snuck into this show.

the first season was kino

Pantera did a soundtrack for an episode? Absolutely based
For me, it's Dying for Pie.
>NO! YOU WERE MEANT TO EXPLODE!
>Okay, I'll try it. GARY, YOU ARE GOING TO FINISH YOUR DESERT AND YOU ARE GOING TO LIKE IT! Now you try.
>NO YOU IDIOT, YOU WERE MEANT TO EXPLODE INTO A MILLION PIECES, YOU ATE A BOMB!
>ooh, good one
>bobby sauce
Is that what I think it is?
>Squidward falls into hell
THE GENTLE LABORER SHALL NO LONGER SUFFER FROM THE NOXIOUS GREED OF MR KRABS
This shit scared me as a kid.
>that one episode where Lux Interior of The Cramps provides the voice of the singer of an all-bird surf band
Dude I completely missed this episode as a kid, and I thought I had seen all the weird/obscure episodes like the Halloween special and the one with the original King Neptune. I just learned about this episode a couple months ago. I don't know how it went under my radar as a kid.
Why is it so quotable all these years later
>You used me... FOR LAND DEVELOPMENT
It's brand of humor is so goddamn unique. It's really surreal and nonsensical in a way that few things are. Batman '66 has an almost similar style of humor, with weird cut-away gags and lots of non-sequitur solutions to problems.
The deal was they had actual smart people with vision working on the show, they weren't trying to work up to a standard they were the standard.
Is there anything on that level today? Even back in the 2000s when I was a kid, I remember knowing that SpongeBob was an absolute cultural force. Is there anything today that completely dominates the culture the way SpongeBob did? It was like our generation's Beatles or something. Head and shoulders above everything else of the era.
>DO YOU FIND THIS FUNNY?
>In a cosmic sort of way , yes
>WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN SERVING UP SMILES
>Being dead, or anything else.
Still no pickles!
>yfw you realize all those seemingly nonsensical phrases bubble bass used to order are actual real restaurant terms so his order would make 100% sense to a knowledgeable chef
Shit, that makes it even funnier since Squidward had no idea what the fuck he was saying whereas Spongebob got it in a heartbeat
how can you even remember all of this? only a nerd would
I think /ck/ actually cooked it once
FPSP
Truth.
"I'll take a Double Triple Bossy Deluxe on a raft, 4x4 animal style, extra shingles with a shimmy and a squeeze, light axle grease; make it cry, burn it, and let it swim."
Double Triple Bossy Deluxe: Double Triple = 6 patties, Bossy = all-beef, Deluxe = everything on it.
On a raft: Toast in place of burger buns.
4x4: Previous 6 patties x 4 = 24 total patties, with another 24 slices of cheese.
Animal style: Patties cooked in mustard, 24 layers of everything.
Extra shingles: Extra toast, 2 per layer, 14 total.
With a shimmy: Jelly spread on toast.
And a squeeze: Orange juice to drink.
Light axle grease: Light butter on the toast.
Make it cry: Extra onions.
Burn it: Patties are well-done.
Let it swim: Extra special sauce.
Holly fuck, was this on purpose?
i love it
>With a shimmy: Jelly spread on toast
they've done this in 2 episodes now, is this any good? I would never think of putting jelly on a burger
We serve food here sir.
Shangai'd was such a kino episode
Any one who was a kid during that time that got dragged through the mall by their mom all the time knew exactly how the perfume department scene hit
Chocolate With Nuts is my favorite piece of comedy across all media
Chocolate... I remember chocolate...
They used the breakdown from Death Rattle.
It must have come up often considering the jellyfish
What the fuck did they mean by this?
>4x4: Previous 6 patties x 4 = 24 total patties, with another 24 slices of cheese.
You sure about this one? Everything else sounds like a realistic order until this
>fucking fuck fuck fuckety fuck
A double double is generally two patties and and two slices of cheese. So wouldnt a double triple just be two patties with three slices of cheese?
based
4x4 animal style is just an In-n-Out reference. A 4x4 is just a four patty burger.
I still don't get this one.
It’s a reference to the art of Toulouse Lautrec. He was a midget who painted can can dancers. The text translates to “Fish Troupe/I play Tennis/French fries/Potato fries”
These two I say in my head way more often than I should.
Based
Okay huh. That is pretty clever.
Sweet sweet chocolate
I ALWAYS HATED IT!
Rick and Morty
Chocolate With Nuts and the paired episode of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy IV was pure kino
Probably the magnum opus of the show
>Quick, Patrick, without thinking, if you could have anything in the world right now, what would it be?
>Uh! More time to think!
>Too late!
I think the sheer panic in the guy's voice made it for me. I dropped off on watching the show, but it's always funny to see the show used to depict other things from murderers to games.

We're not cavemen! We have technology!
>He was just a two-dimensional creature, lost in our 3 dimensional aquatic world, longing for a purpose.
>So he's a drawing
This show really got a little deep at times
Might be. After all jalapenos and pineapple on burgers is good.
>That plan just might be crazy enough...
>I still think he looks kind of creepy
I WILL SAW THE TABLES OF OPPRESSION IN HALF
>modern SpongeBob has a jump scare screamer scene
Is this when the show officially died?
Shanghaied was the episode that took Spongebob's mixed-art style and nonsensical world to its peak.
>playing two people covering up a murder for laughs in a kids show
also getting a new appreciation for clancy brown
>ICE IS JUST A MYTH
To this day I still firmly believe that Rock Bottom is a perfect episode. All these years and the vending machine gag is still funny.

which seasons are the good ones? i want to watch it again
Didn't the movie have an original Motorhead song?
Anything before the first movie is quintessential kino, after that it goes downhill really fast
>you doodle
>me spongebob
The bit where he slowly enunciates his babble always got me.
the ones you remember the best
I feel like there has never been a cartoon since the show originally aired that has surpassed the first 3 seasons in all aspects. What did this show have that no other cartoon since has gotten down to a T?
>that moment when you realize the squeaky rubber boots/world's greatest frycook episode was a reference to a short story by Edgar Allen Poe
>the episode where they joked about prison rape
lol
soul
that was a reference to some weird fan theory or something
>That episode when SpongeBob yells "IM UGLY AND IN PROUD" and Squidward says "is that what he calls it?"
The amount of adult jokes they hid is amazing
The show had great moments of black comedy.
>that moment when you realize the first SpongeBob movie is just essentially the Odyssey
>The diver was the cyclops
>The mermaid gave them a magic bag of wind
AAAAUUUUUUGGGHHHHHH
I AM SPONGEBOB, DESTROYER OF EVIL!
*taps plays weakly*
It was extremely clever, and the visual gags were unmatched
try a monte cristo user
Holy shit they actually referenced red mist lol
