I'm talking about movies.

>american man gets called a "he"
>xhe has a mental breakdown and shoots up school or becomes a Yas Forums janitor
real life is more dystopic than anything you can come up with

Oops. Wrong thread.

Source?

>it's a "Yas Forums makes things up to complain about" episode
that board is full of feminine males. gay board. you're gay. leave Yas Forums

It's an extension of the kino 80's neon dream combined with cool futuristic technology deployed down to mundane levels.

>it doesn't need to be 3rd person
3rd person sucks

Over And Over

High tech/lowlife

BECAUSE IT'S DARK AND GRIM AND GRIMDARK AND NEON SIGNS AND CHINESE LETTERS AND RAIN AND FOG AND TRENCH COATS

WHAT? ONLY CERTAIN FILMS ARE LIKE THAT AND IT ISN'T THE CYBERPUNK GENRE IN TOTAL? LOL NO! ITS KEE KNOW!

It’s real life except people sell food on the street and the tech is way more advanced and the aesthetic of rain and neon is cool.

It appeals to a generation of people who find comfort in their rooms, in technology, in urbanisation, because it's safe. It's a world where you can 'sign out' of all interpersonal interaction. Technology and escapism is pushed to their extremes.
On top of that, the aesthetic is just comfortable. Neon lights and computer screens are associated with cool and new.

Who are you quoting?

Post real life cyber-tech/vibe

That pretty much sums up my way of seeing it. Based.

this is full of so many mistakes tha
>3rd person
What? Oh right, you're talking about video games. Right. You're retarded. Carry on.
>>it doesn't need you to be able to purchase new apartments
>>it doesn't need you to be able to choose different childhood heroes
>>it doesn't need you to be able to customise your cars or apartment
What the fuck is this? You then go on and complain about it beign GTA 2077; which had all those fucking things. So you either want it to be GTA or don't. I have no idea what game this is but holy fuck you're dumb. Fuck off to Yas Forums.

I always thought it seemed horrible. The opposite of what life should be.

In the first cyberpunk novel even created, (pic related) the protagonist gets plugged into a Virtual Reality Simulation of a people free beach. He has a total breakdown because there’s no trace of people or civilisation, not a single sight or sound that shows there is still a world. He considers it one of the most traumatic experiences of his life. So yeah, we are definitely heading there in that aspect, if nothing else.

Is the list of ways the CP77 game is fucking it up?
I haven't been paying attention, but am 0% surprised by any of this.
It will be the World War Z of videogames.

Fun Fact: They used explosives designed to crack open military grade tanks on this thing, and it didn’t break through. He was that good at making it.

Oh fuck right off, that's a list of shit Yas Forums is moaning about and the first two on the list are wrong.

>the tech is way more advanced
Except not one of the big Cyberpunk writers predicted how widespread cell-phones would be, or that wireless internet would even be possible.
Cyberpunk is now alternate future more than anything. Still love it though.

pretty much this. It's based on 80's American/Jap weebs and nerds imagination of how the technological future would look like

Ehh. VR did that years ago in actuality and it wasn't particularly traumatic.

Because tech is empowering, coupled with the freedom and punk effect, and it forces you to act cool.

>tfw we are already living in a cyberpunk reality the chinese flu epidemic was just the cherry on top

Yeah, but consider how many people are cripplingly dependent on the internet for social interaction and information. Every generation is getting worse in this regard. When Millennials get into power, or the info-corps get enough strength, there will be free wifi and data nation wide, in every NATO and G20 country. Teenagers are already having breakdowns when the wifi goes out or they get banned for the weekend, what the fuck is the next generation going to be like.

they were fairly accurate predictions for the most part

there will probably be government issued girlfriends/boyfriends or some similar program in a lot of countries, eventually the state will have to step in if citizens become too retarded to find companionship

The future sounds hilarious, ngl

>empowering
It empowers those who would use it to control you just as much, if not more than it ever powers the individual.

It's borderline treasonous that Hollywood hasn't produced at least 2 or 3 movies that either take place here or a fictional version of here.

Didn't Bloodsport take place or have a scene there?

>it doesn't matter that CD Projekt Red is staffed by Americans now
This is what I'm most upset about. Americans fucking suck and destroys everything.

At least Bloodsport had the balls to do a scene there.

Because it's a beautiful world, everyone is aesthetically pleasing. Literally everyone is effay. Today, nobody gives a shit about how they look, talk or move. Businesses and shops have pleasing neon advertising.

it was one single alley they probably had to close off

High contrast. Colourful.

So were the 60s but that was a trash aesthetic

no it's a list of things Yas Forums made up to complain about. you're retarded if you think any of the shit Yas Forums screeches about is accurate

Chinese futurism is essentially cyberpunk irl.

Not yet, when their state inevitably collapses it will be tho
Remember that in cyberpunk situations you only have corporations or elites running things
Right now china is just a futuristic dystopia, nothing punk about it

>futuristic dystopia
Pretty much.

I mean don't get me wrong, China is probably the wealthiest country on earth right now but it's unmistakeably a totalitarian dystopia

Because it's what we would have if we didn't have to throw away money at the third world.
