No they aren't. There's 18-20 years between each generation (protip: the new generation starts when the children from the last generation start having children, which is roughly 18-20 years, and thereby creating a new generation, it's not difficult to understand).
So if the Silent generation ended in 1945, boomers ended in 65, X ended in 85 and Millennials ended in 2005. If you do it as 18 years instead of 25 years then Millennials ended in 1999, which is arguably more accurate.
There's a few other memes to determine the generation difference like how similar the two are. Someone born in 1989 lived a completely different life to someone born in 1979 despite there only being 10 years between them. These differences are generally so vast because of technological changes which has a direct change on how people grow up, hence the large difference between someone being, say, 5 in 1984 and someone being 5 in 1994.
