Picard is actually more "insulting". Completely shits on characters we already knew. I also learned how much of a complete faggot Patrick Stewart is and now I really don't like the guy at all anymore.

I've kind of come around on Enterprise over the years. I like that nobody has really figured everything out yet about who they will be by TOS and especially TNG not even the Vulcans. The last few seasons are pretty good.

Unironically Picard was worse. Plot points trail off and go nowhere like STD.
Despite having 10 episodes it had about enough content for a TNG 2 parter.
Character development goes nowhere as they meander around pointlessly for ten episodes and then characters just pop into things (like Seven and Raffi suddenly being lesbian lovers).
The narrative about Brexit which was Stewarts main motivation is super on the nose.
At least STD, while a piece of shit, develops it's characters (even if they are developed into shit and uninteresting). And somehow manages to hammer you in the face less with real world politics.

I actually managed to muscle my way through 2 whole seasons of STD, but couldn't bring myself to watch past the first few episodes of Picard.

I've been watching it for the first time thanks to this virus and I agree. It's really fun watching the humans say "Prime Directive, what's that lol" only to start to realize why it might be an essential thing to have. Also, I really like Archer as a captain, his enthusiasm and excitement at the idea of exploration is really enjoyable to watch.

Yeah, I hate this modern trend of avoiding adventure of the week stories for overarching season plots. It works for some shows like the Sopranos and the Wire, but it certainly doesn't work for Trek. Give me my 25 episode seasons made on shoe-string budgets with models, silly makeup, and fantastic writing, you can keep your fancy graphics and vomit-inducing camerawork.

The City on the Edge of Forever would never be made today. nuTrek is fucking shit trying to follow this serial trash.
