If we’re talking strictly 90s, Simpsons and Seinfeld’s writing was mostly on par, but Simpsons had better joke delivery/flow because no bullshit laugh track every 5 seconds. Simpsons by virtue of being animation had way more visual gags, but Seinfeld did have better plot payoffs.

Wrong, Seinfeld has a cult international following. It’s not as popular as friends but the people who do like it are insufferable reddit tier cunts who can’t wait to tell you just what a brilliant and underrated show it is.

It was pretty popular in Britain
The better sitcom while in the 90s? The Simpsons.
The better sitcom now once you account for the entire run? Seinfeld.
Nominee for most ameritard comment of 2020. People are already started to forget about the Simpsons and regard it in the same way The Flinstones was ages ago: A cartoon of the past. Seinfeld is sitll immemorial.
>no one outside the US knows Seinfeld
>the fact it has a cult following outside the US doesn’t directly contradict my point
Do Americans really?

I think modern zoomer audiences miss the point of Seinfeld. In the 90s, we laughed at how horrible the main cast were as people - it was amusing to witness the darker, typically repressed side of human nature coming undone in humorous situations.
Modern audiences seem to find Seinfeld funny because they relate to how awful the characters are, and see them as a reflection of themselves at their core. They fail to see the characters as the bad people they're meant to portray, instead seeing them as quirky and a reminder of themselves.
I suppose that's why younger people who enjoy Seinfeld are typically pretty unpleasant people - the irony of Seinfeld is lost on them.
And if you zoomer Seinfeld fans try to argue against me and try to insult me or whatever, you'll only prove the point of my post

this is true for the soviet bloc countries at least, stuff like Friends is infinitely more well known here.
City slickers (especially New Yorkers) have always been miserable people like the Seinfeld characters.
Older zoomer here - me and pretty much everyone I know who enjoys Seinfeld enjoys it because we acknowledge the characters are awful people. It’s the brainlets who expect sit com characters to be relatable are the ones who say it’s bad. Always Sunny and Curb are the same

If I may ask, how old are you?
I've watched Seinfeld way more than I have The Simpsons. So, I would say Seinfeld. However, Simpsons seasons 2-5 is absolutely great.
I'm 22 and I, and everyone else I know who's my age and likes Seinfeld, thinks that the main characters are horrible people, same with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I'd go with classic Simpsons.
23, bordering on young millennial
Simpsons pretty much invented the raunchy adult cartoon wave that we are still in right now.
Seems like every night of the 90s on Fox there was a different pilot episode of an adult cartoon that flopped.

Really showing them kids, huh user?
I totally understand why people like Seinfeld's brilliant plots, but I hate Jerry Seinfeld and generally find the show unpleasant and not that funny
Simpsons succeeded (past tense!) because it was better line-by-line, and those lines are what makes you laugh. you can appreciate a plot, but you don't let out a slow, 30 minute laugh over a clever plot.

Simpsons was never funny once people got past the OMG CARTOONS DOING ADULT STUFF shtick and Seinfeld is just a long Quenton Tarintino scene with annoying jooz.
Therfore Cheers is the best 90s sitcom.
There's something off about Frasier after he loses the Beethoven hairdo. It's not that, by itself. There's that episode right before where Frasier gets really sick and gets paranoid delusions from the medicine he's on (which is great), but after that, Kelsey Grammar plays him like he has some underlying lunatic bent in every single episode.
>user has never actually watched an episode of the Simpsons
not since like 1993
let me guess it got wayyyy better after that huh
You sure have a lot of confidence in your opinion about a show you haven’t seen in 27 years. Half the people posting in this thread probably weren’t even alive when you saw the Simpsons last. The show you’re describing is Family Guy/South Park. Simpsons worked because it had well written characters, plots and jokes.

the jannies have been going nuts in the last 6 months, they ban you for using nigger sometimes now.
The tragedy is that bans are so easy to evade. This board would be a better place if you were gone for good.
