Questions?
Lucas Rodriguez
Owen Sanchez
explain the kid to me
also explain why anyone would participate in this shit?
Landon Myers
no questions
it's trash
James Green
Was it a simulation?
Why was samurai+ guy in the basement
Lucas Barnes
The kid would be splattered or shot through the ceiling at the top, if the ride didn't kill her on the way up, zooming a million miles an hour.
Stupid mexican movie.
Gabriel Smith
Represents a selfless goal to strive for
They don't know it's fucked up
Maybe, doesn't matter
The dead reappearing are all in MC's head to illustrate internal conflict and juxtapose various ideologies
Jack Reyes
Why didn't they write an ending?
Daniel Anderson
>they asked everyone's favorite food before putting them in
>supposedly there's everybody's favorite food on this platform and everyone would get fed if they took their favorite food only
>333 floors, 2 people per floor, that makes 666 favorite meals on one platform...
If several people have the same favorite food, do cooks make several plates or make one bigger?
Ayden White
>The food trays and plates slam into the ceiling every day
are you r worded?
Brayden Wood
Idk I think it's probably on a gradual linear interpolation between the bottom and top points.
Easton Peterson
>If several people have the same favorite food, do cooks make several plates or make one bigger?
Not important and doesn't matter, but I'll humor you.
It would have been taken into account during the interview.
Lucas Stewart
why did no one from the lower levels just jump on the elevator and ride upwards?
Ayden Gonzalez
do you escape by going up or down?
Landon Cruz
They signed up for it, therefore they can't leave, so they can't ride it until the top.
If they get off on a higher floor they would most likely be killed because it's 2v1 and the higher floors don't want to share or cooperate.
Austin Roberts
okay and why was the jail existing in the first place? some sort of experiment? but for what purpose?
Noah Collins
What would you take to the Pit?
Ayden Allen
so did the MC actually die somewhere near the end, maybe when his skull was caved in by the fat guy? what was in the darkness on the bottom? where did he walk off to? is it post-death?
Justin Torres
why would it be a 2v1?
You can ride up with 2
It was never explicitly stated that you couldn't try to get out
The whole movie fails because it went for an allegorrical ending instead of playing the setting straight.
Gavin Flores
I can't tell if you and the other people in this thread are autistic or don't understand movies as a concept
It doesn't matter what the purpose of the platform jail is. It doesn't matter if it was real or a simulation, it doesn't matter if he was alive at the end or if it was the after life.
The only/whole purpose of the movie was to (hamfistedly) examine capitalism/class issues/race/the human condition and whatever other abstract ideas the filmmakers had in mind, anything else doesn't matter at all to the point.
Quite simply, in movies such as this one, snowpiercer and ad astra, it's not about the plot, the plot is merely a vessel, the apparatus used to deliver the meaning and message of the film itself.
You're focused on the surface level "what did we see happen in the move" when what you're supposed to be focused on is "what was the meaning of the things we saw happen in the movie, what was the message/point"
This movie could have had literally any other setting yet retain the same core purpose. The fact is that not all movies can be viewed, judged, and critiqued in the same manner, movies aren't just a binary thing, there is nuance.
Seriously, change your perspective.
Dominic Garcia
Who was the kid?
Why couldnt the guy ride the plataform back and explain what he was doing? Wouldnt it be much better than some obscure "symbol"?
Carson Gray
yeah but that kinda storytelling is shit
I know it was an allegory, it wasn't exactly subtle. You aren't intelligent for pointing out that the plot wasn't the focus / what we were supposed to focus on.
However I am saying that the presneted setting and potential plot if it were played straight just for the story would be much better than some puddle deep allegory that anyone over the age of 12 can understand. The allegory / "below the surface" is just not interesting or novel. The setting however is.
Samuel Taylor
I don't give a shit about the purpose. Any 3rd grader could tell the purpose. Plot is more important than some hamfisted "capitalism bad" message.
Parker Walker
what's this?
Jeremiah Martinez
If I liked what movies should I watch this?
Ian Gutierrez
the cube
Lincoln Reyes
Snopiercer + Divider, the Road or any other edgy grimdark post-apoc shite
Noah Cook
Thank you, lads.
Noah Gutierrez
the capitalism bad message was so surface level and heavy handed that it was crigne as fuck. Interesting idea thgouh
Dylan Evans
circle and the cube movies
Carter Parker
>Why didn't they write an ending?
How do you write an ending to the greatest philosophical problem that mankind faces? You can't. Noone is smart enough. Just slap a shallow 'dood. the next generation is the answer dood' and call it a day.
Wyatt Ramirez
It's true though. Put a bunch of hungry people into an arena and supply enough food for them if they all ration it. Fuckers will kill each other for more food.
t.live in a country hit by a lot of hurricanes and have seen people kill each other for food
Luis Bailey
by not having the movie about some dumb philosophical question, but instead stick to the plot
Carson Taylor
>but instead stick to the plot
The plot IS the philosophical question. They all but beat you over the head with it in the first 5 minutes when Samurai asks if the MC is a communist.
Evan Ortiz
WOAH SO DEEP LIKE SOCIETY

WOAH SO CONTRARIAN user. YOU AREN'T LIKE ANYONE ELSE. YOU ARE SPECIAL WITH SPECIAL OPINIONS NOBODY ELSE HAS
Mason Gomez
To find her daughter
Landon Murphy
no the plot at first was "how do we survive / get out of here" it only turned into philosophy 101 wankery later
Nathan Campbell
Aight Yas Forums, lets see how smart you are. Rewrite the ending.
Daniel Price
The obviously rode down to the bottom every month but never once realized she was under the fucking bed?
Colton Perez
yeah fuck Venezuela
Jason Gonzalez
/thread
seriously how retarded is this board
Evan Fisher
basedboy post, cringe
Face it, this was shit. The setting was cool and thats it.
Benjamin Anderson
dilate
Gavin Miller
retard, read the replies
Robert Watson
you are so fucking dumb holy shit
Eli Lopez
So the kid goes back up at like 200 mph? Otherwise she'd be kidnapped and raped
Joshua Stewart
She rode down every month because she knew exactly where the daughter was. She put the daughter on the lowest level and its implied she's been riding the table down to bring her food or human meat from someone she killed.
Julian Lee
so glad Spain is being cleansed by Corona
Hunter Murphy
trash reddit garbage
Jaxson Taylor
Remove the girl. She's unnecessary. Woman being crazy is better than there actually being a daughter cause there are plot holes when it comes to how the daughter would survive.
Ending: They ride up and either get free / get killed by The Administration / get smashed on the ceiling
Juan Rodriguez
>examine capitalism/class issues/race/the human condition
Problem is the director WANTS to say that "capitalism bad, socialism good" but all the characters are pieces of shit, on any floor. So taking into account that being selfish is "human nature" then capitalism is the only system that works. The director ain't exactly a bright guy I guess
Jordan Hall
>white man bad
>white woman and brown man good
Is every european country like this?
Grayson Ramirez
no, you are, if you think that this kind of surface level pseudointellectual wankery should have been the focus compared to the novel setup.
Ryan Reyes
> ANY kind of cooperation between humans is communism
> therefore this movie is about capitalism
thread is full of retards
Christian Edwards
>The director ain't exactly a bright guy I guess
That's why the movie ended the way it did. I'm assuming the script writer is a brainlet.
Camden Morales
>COMMUNISM GOOD! CAPITALISM BAD!
Wow, what a brave premise for a film to make so surface level
Owen Jenkins
It flew too fast, it'd kill you
Brandon Garcia
>ANY kind of cooperation between humans is communism
But there is NO cooperation, the tranny is telling the lower floor to eat only what they need and they don't give a shit until the main guy tells them they better comply or he'll shit on their food. So it's a good analogy for socialism, people either obey or they'll get sent to the gulags
Daniel Clark
i mean the negro, the protagonist and that girl with cancer were the good guys?
