/who/ - Doctor Who general
feel cybermen would be a lot scarier and used properly more often if they just insisted on being called humans
yes and they should also make them say "did you just asume my species?"
Zagreus sits inside your head,
Zagreus lives among the dead,
Zagreus sees you in your bed,
And eats you when you're sleeping.
Zagreus at the end of days,
Zagreus lies all other ways,
Zagreus comes when time's a maze,
And all of history is weeping.
Zagreus taking time apart,
Zagreus fears the hero heart,
Zagreus seeks the final part,
The reward that he is reaping.
Zagreus sings when all is lost,
Zagreus takes all those he's crossed,
Zagreus wins and all it cost,
The hero's hearts he's keeping.
Zagreus seeks the hero's ship,
Zagreus needs the web to rip,
Zagreus sups time at a drip,
And life aside, he's sweeping.
Zagreus waits at the end of the world,
For Zagreus is the end of the world.
His time is the end of time,
And his moment time's undoing.
Why were they both so autistic that it takes one of them dying to be absolutely honest with each other?
what does /who/ think of strax?
Redeemed by his intro to the 50th anniversary tweetalong the other day, otherwise hes awful
Doctor Who would be better if it stopped trying to be scary. It was scary in a "children's nightmare fuel" kind of way, an accident more than a conscious effort. If a monster is scary, it's scary and it will be remembered. Also the Borg from Star Trek TNG were more or less what modern cybermen should have cribbed from.
tfw, no cute potato BF
today's the day lads, see you at 7
will he also reveal something when it starts?
Save some based opinions for the rest of us, user.
> tfw /who/ could be the cornerstone of the second Wilderness Years
Much like the rest of the Paternoster gang, I don't know why he's popular.
quirky alien lesbians and cuck monster
Well you know this geeks, once they like something they want it all day until they get tired of it and by the looks of it either people haven't got tired of those dykes and this potato from Victorian London or they are good characters on the expanded media, then again who the fuck cares about books and podcast?
is jenny also an alien?
Reminder that you can have your own adventures with your friends and start your own Wilderness Years right now.
they're an easy way for the doctor's side to advance the plot and provide exposition without the doctor doing it directly himself. also, the comic relief provided could be worse
can you be the monsters too?
>Earlier in the day, you'll have had ROSE: THE PREQUEL to read on the BBC site and my page here.
>And then another surprise too, later in the day.
that's what he said
The monsters are built in the same fashion as regular player-characters. So yes.
EVERYTHING OUTSIDE TV IS NOT DOCTOR WHO - FACT!
Are the Target novelizations any good? I realize that they were for a time before home video but I drive a lot so I have the idea of listening to audiobook versions of them. Particularly ones I have not seen.
yes. It's quite a decent system if you take the time to look around. Just don't let your players make their own TARDISes. Bloody hell, they're annoying to make.

The only thing this is missing is the "12th Doctor Sourcebook" which lists all of Capaldi's episodes and ways to make them game adventures.
i just can't wait to see how much better he is at writing than chinballs and his shit prologue he released the other day
what's the story with Capaldi novels/audio impressions? anything worth reading/listening?
he will develop a corona-chan cure
it's not for evreryone, i think the stories are quite decent but the voice could be better (specially since this guy specialized on voicing 10th and 11th)
there is this bit here: bigfinish.com
Making sourcebooks out of each era of Doctor Who was nothing short of ingenious.
Jacob Dudman is good at voicing the 11th Doctor - but his 12 isn't that good. I mean, it could be worse. You could give it a try, this one is free.

Why was Classic Who so good, bros? ;-;
Think of how many disfunctional married couples there are that can't even talk to each other
the fact clara and the doctor were able to eventually talk it out still puts them better than most relationships
My question is why they do these "Chronicles" when they already have Companion Chronicles. Are they like the AudioGo/BBCAudio originals or those Destiny of the Doctor audios?
RATKIN! RATKIN!
Was this the creepiest cliffhager in Who?
Chronicles is just their catch all terms for stories without a full cast I think, or to make it clear the doctor on the cover isn't being played by the actor. Like if Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi actually joined big finish they would get 11th/12th Doctor Adventures instead of a Chronicles 2
no, they are like doctor who adventures for those doctors that they don't have, since david tennant ended up doing actua audios for Big Finish they stopped not sure if Smith will do the same, for the most part i think they make this chronicles to get the actor's attention.
Back in the days before television, when stage plays and radio drama were the domains of acting, the imagination was a much more vital component of fantastic storytelling. British science fiction is at its finest when it accounts for human imagination. It has interesting ideas, good scripts, and good acting all while burdened with a shoestring budget so they must put everything else at a premium. When it works you mind does a lot of the work. Classic Doctor Who worked off of these principles. The modern show almost always is at its best when it does this too - when it is working off of a strong script with interesting ideas and is being elevated by good acting.
Thanks user, was missing quite a few of those. I wish I could buy most of this stuff, but Who has to be one of the biggest franchises I've ever seen extra material wise. Fuck, the prices they charge per boxset for Classic episodes would make it cost thousands just to collect the entire core tv series.
You have to wonder what they are smoking with the pricing. I mean, hell, I'd pay £200-£300 for a 'Complete' boxset in DVD/BR form of the torrent I got for free, but I'm certainly not paying £30ish per couple of episodes.
Are they worth listening to? I am already a fan of Big Finish in general. It's just the notion of them that kind of bothers me even if it's ultimately for nought.
who is the “purer” RTD Doctor - 9 or 10?
No problem. I got into the TRPG back when they had the humble bundle back in 2017. After that it wasn't hard to find the few sourcebooks they didn't include and made after that.
i have been going through 12th and 11th chronicles, jacob does a good job as 11th's voice and so far a lot of his stories are quite good, while i think the 12th doctor's voice is not the same i guess you get used to it, i really like the first story so i would recommend them, they migh not be as good as full cast but atleast they are quite the fun thing to listen to while you are doing something else.
>that it takes one of them dying to be absolutely honest with each other?
not even that was enough, or do you not remember 12 trying to duck and weave his way out of the cloisters without acknowledging the absurdity of what he did? he was THAT autistic, and clara was no better in that regard, words were never their strong suit
10 by far. 9 was there for a single season and the tone shifted quickly to suit 10 so when it is the majority of the run it kind of goes without saying.
It's more poignant to ask the same about Moffat's 11th and 12th Doctors as their two eras are quite different.
bro it's 2020 that joke is like seven years old at the least
you think chibs would care?
Sounds like something that I will go after when I have tapped some other things out first. Truth be told I rarely actually doubt Big Finish and from your response it is probably no different here.
Short Trips are different to the chronicles. They're basically an audiobook read by someone from that Doctor's era.
I like the Short Trips, they're cheap and usually have some inventive stories.
you know the audio bay right?
>Strax, you're over excited. Have you been eating those jelly sherbet fancies again?
>......no
I loved that small bit, he's good comic relief.
Honestly, people are right in saying Clara was just immature with 11, but still; I never felt her feelings for 12 ran anywhere near as deep even at the end. Sure, they were deep feelings, but in the end it was still him who had to do all the sacrificing, including the loss of memories despite the fact she was fucking doomed either way. It was a far cry from her throwing herself into his timestream to save him.
Then again I don't think I ever really forgave her for her little tantrum over Danny that would have, if real, fucked over the universe/time in a massive way and killed trillions the Doctor might have saved, not to mention killing/stranding her 'best and greatest' friend in a fucking volcano and leaving him not only stranded on earth and forever separated from the only thing that both kept him sane and served as a companion that never leaves him. For me there was no way of her coming back from that. At best I let it go enough that it didn't bother me that she stuck around so long afterwards; but she was never worthy to be his companion again after that.
Yessir. What I mean is that I have plenty to listen to yet.
Those I have yet to listen to either. Also a back burner listen for the future.
because they had to be autistic on-screen, since the audience was full of immature brainlets who thought it was okay for an ancient alien to flirt with a 30 year old woman as long as he looked her age, but when he started looking 50 it suddenly became wrong
if you look at what moffat, capaldi and coleman said, it was clearly meant as a love story and you don't have to see them displaying physical affection constantly to each other to believe it (even though s9 had a lot of that)
>becomes an absolute shit character for 99% of her screentime and gets mogged by clara story-wise
oops sweetie
series 7 was the initial honeymoon phase when you have no idea what a person is truly like but everything is peachy fine and easy going and your crush is at an all time high
series 8 was the phase when you learn exactly what the other person is like, good and bad, and it's where the fights disagreements and near-breakups happen
series 9 was the peaceful period where you finally know everything about a person and love and accept them despite it
11 and 12 are not that different, the main problem is that clara didn't get the full impression of what the doctor is like so she deluded herself at first. she rarely ever saw what 11 would do in situations where there's no easy choice and where he had no luxury of pretending to be conflicted
he also spent nearly a millenium isolated from normal social contact fighting on trenzalore, so 11 would be more closed off and weird too even if didn't regenerate
Love Peri. Simple as.
It's funny cause she so hot too.
She's already taken
Hottest classic companion
