King of the Monsters was a mistake, the Monsterverse started off promising with Godzilla and ended up very promising with Skull Island. There was so much wrong with King of the Monsters for a very small number of satisfying kaiju fight scenes

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised anymore if they made Millie's character psychic on some level in it. The last film showed they aren't totally shy about embracing some of the sillier aspects of the old movies (Ghidorah being an alien, Mothra twins, etc.) which is fine by me. Nothing annoys me more than adaptations that are ashamed of their source material.

All they had to do in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), was a back and forth conflict between Dr. Serizawa and Charles Dance. Like in The Prestige. Cut all the other fucking family and comedy relief characters from the movie. The situation becomes more serious and bigger as the movie goes along. Monarch would have to use Godzilla to stop the kaiju that EvilMonarch wake up. And maybe in the end they invent some psychic children like in Akira. To mind control kaiju. Fuck Dougherty.

Its funny because Shin Godzilla does the exact opposite and is one of the best Godzilla movies of all time

They should have done Godzilla vs Kong in 2019, not KOTM. It was the natural successor to Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island. No third monster, no titans, just Godzilla and Kong duking it out. KOTM should have been the grand finale due to its apocalyptic themes.

I liked King of the Monsters but I legitimately do not understand why it wasn't the finale of their trilogy. Ghidorah should have been the final villain, a big monkey and Mechagodzilla seem a lot less threatening in comparison.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it. The American Godzilla movies aren't masterpieces by any means, but they've been decent enough. I think they're moving in the right direction anyway, especially after the 1998 movie.

The way I see it, 2014 was a good movie, but not a good Godzilla movie.
KotM was a good Godzilla movie, but not a good movie.
That makes me think or at least hope that GvK is going to find the right balance and finally be both a good movie, and a good Godzilla movie.
