Imagine not doing 2 years home economics and 2 years hospitality in high-school. Not only was a it a bit of a skive but you got to cook decent shit sometimes.

I have an even simpler recipe.
>buy some protein in a can (corned beef, spam, barbeque beans, salmon, sardines, whatever)
>buy some onions
>buy some garlic
>buy some salt and pepper
>buy some olive oil
>put olive oil in pan
>heat oil on stove till hot
>throw chopped up onions and garlic into pan
>cook and lightly stir for three minutes
>remove protein from can and put in pan with onion and garlic
>cook until protein is hot/fully cooked
>season with salt and pepper if you want
>eat it
You can make it more filling for a little more complexity by also buying some bread or cooking some rice to eat it with.

I switched high schools so the hospitality elective was full and I had to do fuckinng visual arts. The only hospitality that I had which was part of a the compulsory school curriculum was the first half of 8th grade where we made only one thing once and that was it. It was like a homemade version of a palm-sized pizza which no one decided to make at home because it wasn’t worth the effort

I'm Australian and nobody laughs at you if you live at home. That said why would you want to live at home with your parents? As soon as I turned 18 I got my own space and it's worked out perfectly well. There's nothing like living by yourself for a while before you move in with a girlfriend.

It's so bizarre to me that there are so many people unable to live a decent or normal life without all the modern standards applied to them. I've been cooking and cleaning for myself since I was 12 and hunting for food since I was 15.
I started to grow my own gardens when I was 16 and have a large enough personal farm on my parents property to feed a small family by the time I was 18.

It's ridiculously simple yet effective because garlic and onions can make anything tastier. The protein doesn't even have to actually be in a can either. Sausage links? Cut them up and cook them with the onions and garlic. A steak? Cook it on the same pan right after you've softened the onions and garlic, and serve it all together on the same plate. Potatoes and no meat? Throw the chopped potatoes in with the onions and garlic along with a little water, slap a lid on, let it sit for a bit, then season with salt and pepper to taste. I'm sure as hell no chef, but frying things in a pan with those two ingredients is easily achievable even for me.
