I've said it in other threads but a lot of skits had a consistent theme of alienated masculinity and i never know if it was intentional or an unintentional reflection of Sams personality. The final skit has some kid who wants to be a firefighter so his mother puts him on drugs and then opines he wants to be an interior designer like his mum, which felt like the most direct example.

MDE worked because it was postmodern surrealism made by normal middle class New England WASPs who aren't a special interest group or protected minority with no perspective of this country.
