What made this movie so disappointing?
What made this movie so disappointing?
humans
Too much cutting from the fights, uninteresting human characters and the fights were not very inventive.
zoomed in action
humans in the foreground during fights
The only thing the movie had to get right, monster battles, fell completely flat.
it had few minutes of battles
It was better than its predecessor
I went in with zero expectations and came out pleasantly surprised.
Exact opposite reaction I had to the movie before it.
Hard to pin down. I watched it and don't really remember anything other than the finale when all the monsters bowed to Godzilla. The actors were lame and I couldn't name any characters. I don't remember the plot other than it was contrived and that while watching it I was annoyed.
>japanese IP developed by a CHINESE studio
The jews in hollywood don't want china to make their own pop corn shit, Legendary is developing JAPANESE ip's so no jew gets paid, the pokemon movies, godzilla movies and in the future gundam movies are not making LA jews any richer, so even if an American company gets involved in the american distribution they want the movies to fail.
didn't like how meltdown godzilla just instakills ghidorah
also i don't like nu-godzillas design
>also i don't like nu-godzillas design
The head was always small.
And Shin Godzilla sucks
shin godzilla has more fanservice tho
only time i felt nostalgia in the new movie was when mothras theme was playing in the backgroudn
fanservice is for nobody
they killed shape of water lady.
The director clearly didn't give a shit about any aspect of the movie beyond the monsters and maybe the music, but the monster content was seconds interspliced between shots of the humans reacting to it even during the fights, Mothra and Rodan could have been removed with only minor changes to the plot, and the sound editing was so poorly done the sound effects drowned out the score. Most of the dialogue was unbelievably terrible jokes in an attempt to mimic the Marvel movies. The plot was more braindead than the silliest movies from Godzilla's heyday. I could go on, but I'm sick of this movie, sick of its defenders, sick of its threads.
A lot of the audience, as it turns out, have never paid attention to Godzilla movies until they paid money for tickets to watch one. If they were pressed to describe a Godzilla movie it would not be accurate to actual Godzilla movies and would be less accurate than KOTM.
> plot was more braindead than the silliest movies from Godzilla's heyday
How so?
Not nearly enough Millie in it.
>massive technological leap since G14 putting it too much into Marvel territory
>boring villain with little screentime and motivation
>black female captain of the Argo was extremely unappealing
>poor SFX
>Argo
WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL IT SUPER X
What made this movie get so much positive response from those who watched it?
Too much cutting and zoomed in action. All they had to do was have stable wide shots to show all the action.
I suspect they simply didn't have the budget to pull it off, and the movie suffered.
your mom
>>massive technological leap since G14 putting it too much into Marvel territory
what you mean?
It was the first American Godzilla movie that wasn't trying to be something other than a Godzilla movie.
Fans appreciated that.
Since most people really liked it why every thread about it starts negatively why even talk about it? Is it the same guy, someone who really wants to get responses no matter what because I know many who come here are not mentally stable.
Even something like Godzilla vs Gigan has more thought put into it than KotM, which slapped the laziest character motivations into a basic 'bad guy thinks humans bad nature good' plot and dialed it all to braindead.
>>boring villain with little screentime and motivation
The woman was the villain, not the Lannister guy
>Since most people really liked it
Speaking of people here not being mentally stable.
>What made this movie so disappointing?
Lots of things: Edwards is gone, Chinese producers, No animatronics, Fights are intercut with the humans who nobody came to see. Maybe people came to see Millie, but she didn't even promote the movie.
Not enough fights, > then it means it's a "proper Godzilla" movie.
"Actual Godzilla Movies" also had less mutts and animatronics.
Godzilla is redesigned but they kept him fat. Might as well go all the way in redesigning him if you are changing some of his shit.
Who do you think he was talking about? Dance was nearly falling asleep onscreen but he was still one of the more entertaining characters in the movie.
KOTM was fan service the movie.
Not him, but he's not exactly wrong. It was another fairly severe case of the split between critics and viewers.
The fucking awful human characters and their Marvel-tier writing.
The horrendous cinematography for some of the fights
These are really it. I remember just fucking wincing when that stupid fucking ship (which was a real convenient plot device to have everyone just travel around the globe, and totally not ripping off capeshit) flew up in front of the monster action to hover in place.
Say what you will about 2014 but the action scenes were filmed in a much more consistent way, with far better lighting and a sense of scale. The finale of KOTM is our characters running around at the feet of monsters while they fight and they're barely even reacting to it.
90% of the good reviews are bullshit.
> he uses rotten tomatoes
Didn't they stop the reviews for Captain Marcel because they were too negative?
Shin Godzilla was great.
Dance was great and he didnt need to do anything more, the crazy bitch was a fine bad guy, is a woman she doesn't need more motivation to go crazy than losing a kid.
Dance had like 6 lines and he looked bored as fuck. I liked KOTM but my God some of its fanboys have some retarded standards.
>These are really it. I remember just fucking wincing when that stupid fucking ship (which was a real convenient plot device to have everyone just travel around the globe, and totally not ripping off capeshit) flew up in front of the monster action to hover in place.
>Say what you will about 2014 but the action scenes were filmed in a much more consistent way, with far better lighting and a sens
>jewish critics give bad reviews to a Chinese movie about a Japanese IP
Hollywood HATES legendary .
You weren't even there back then?
dance was literally just for "long live the king" in the movie
>he uses rotten tomatoes
It's the same story on metacritic as well, only the split is less harsh.
48 for critics and 7.2 for userscore.
Can anyone remember a single human's name other than Serizawa?
I loved it, made go back and watch through the entire series, my favourite was Shin.
Those who cared generally liked it. If anything now the critics are more noticeable but it's still not evenly split. A couple bigger names in the fandom are pretty vocal but everyone who follows the community even a little bit knows that they're annoying and nobody likes them.
shin was overrated garbage
People who resort to calling something overrated in lieu of actual criticism are fucking brainlets. Shin Godzilla was great.
> defending chinese scum art
Godzilla King of The Monsters (2019); the fan service event brought to you by the people who created the Coronavirus Disease. Expect more Chinese in GvK.
awful plot and characters, nonexistant fights
>seething autist mass replying in his rage against a movie
lmao what a queer
there was too much, in fact
> deflecting
(you)
You're that one faggot who's been REEEEing in the same exact way in every thread even tangentially related to Godzilla for months now. There's no point in doing anything but mocking you anymore because you're clearly deranged,
I don't think I've ever seen anybody so obsessed in their bizarre hatred of an inoffensively mediocre monster move than you.
And that's sad.
>WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL IT SUPER X
They probably thought it was too silly.
>what you mean?
Are you serious? 2014 Godzilla had real-world tech. KOTM had flying aircraft carriers, underwater military bases, behavioral control devices for the monsters, and secret Monarch installations all around the world
>The woman was the villain, not the Lannister guy
She didn't have much in the way of motivation, either. Typically, people who lose loved ones in disasters don't become genocidal maniacs.
>My son was stepped on by a giant monster
>I must unleash more giant monsters to decimate civilization, this is the only way to save nature
Absolute nonsense.
> off topic bullshit
(you)
I think people Itt pretty much nailed the reasons why it was shit. Mainly the writing.
The cast was either terrible or misused.
The "logic" was that it would give his dead "meaning". Again, guys, she is a WOMAN
This is 4channel, not Yas Forums. Take your misogyny elsewhere.
Nothing, it was the best film of 2019.
the lame ass story, so
