I may be a little rusty on my Supernatural lore, but I was a little confused on the continuity in this episode. How was Sister Jo/Anael in contact with Ruby in season 4 when she wasn't on earth until all the angels fell at the end of season 8? Was she one of the angels that was traveling in & out of heaven when they were trying to stop Lilith & the other demons from breaking all of Lucifer's seals?

Anael was Joshua's apprentice in an undisclosed time period and she did visit Earth before. The problem is they depicted Anael as sister Jo exactly the way she was post-fall. And the lines about Lucifer and Michael was off because Ruby died before Lucifer was set free.

Ohhh I see. You would think after all this time, the writers would have all the scripts in a big PDF file that they can Ctrl+F so they can keep all their continuity errors in check. But it makes sense given that they ignore the majority of the time skips that have happened in this show also

Yes the latter seasons have faults and missteps, but I love the fact that while Amara was rampaging and unleashing an apocalypse, Billie blabbing about the Empty was already being set up for the next major multi-seasonal conflict.

I had issues with continuity and if the episode didn’t confirm my theory that Billie and the Shadow are adversaries, I would not have enjoyed it as much. Still, I also enjoyed it. The Basedchesters were hunters in their world. I reckon they knew a spell or two.
