In STO they did a DS9 campaign where the Dominion originally used up the mushrooms from a planet of insectoids who they previously tried to enslave to make Ketracel white.
And the mushrooms had an enzyme that caused the insectoids to turn into a mindless horde without.

I actually like that episode more for its place in Sisko' arc than its actual delivery of story content. Seeing a Vulcan get really and properly trolled was nice.

Let me preface this with I actually enjoy Discovery and to a lesser extent Picard a lot of the time for what they are, so this isn't just the usual "I've never seen the show but someone told me to hate it" incel screeching.
