I can't remember too well but the Attack of the jack o lanterns adaptation obviously wasn't going to include the fake burglars at the sleep over for various reasons.

I seem to recall the Night in Terror Tower one not having the budget to capture the medieval setting of the book so it felt pretty weak

Episodes are usually too short to include more than two thirds of a book, even though they're short books. Even the accurate episodes cut out a lot of scenes.

This is biologically imprinted in us. From what little I watched, it's not very good and relatively tame in the spook factor in comparison to Goosebumps and AYAOTD. There is the 2010 Haunting Hour series and one ep I watched from it was surprisingly scary. I heard some good things about the other episodes and it's pretty long (76 episodes) so check it out if you can.
