Filmed theater edition

Theatrical shot composition

what are some kino plays?

This one was pretty good. I watched the 4-hour version rather than the 3-hour edit. Apparently there was an earlier 4-hour version from the 1960's, but I've never seen that one.

Possession is the best film of the 1980s.
Change my mind.

>The talented French director Jean-Luc Godard, who previously directed the brilliant "Breathless", this time showed in Italy the meaningless, pseudo-modernist "Vivre sa vie". In the film there is only the pretense of a social problem (the life of a prostitute), but the problem itself is not only not solved, but also not posed. Godard disregards even his past formal achievements.

This is wild. Breathless is the last film I'd expect Tarkovsky to find "brilliant", it seems antithetical to everything he believed cinema should be

Rhinoceros
Oleanna
Krapp's Last Tape

No, Ordet is not theater.

It sure is theatrical.

>Breathless
Where did he say that?

An interview in a Russian newspaper called "Гoлoc Pиги", translated it with the help of Google Translator. There's another interview where he praises The Exorcist and shits on Possession

No is not, the way Dreyer moves the camera and blocks to achieve different frames and emotions in one simple shot can't be theater.

>praises The Exorcist and shits on Possession
Based

kiss already, you two

Interesting, well yes, Possession is shit, The Exorcist is excellent.

Move Dreyer to Level 0

You are shit
They are both excellent

It's not even the best horror film of the 80s

Bergman was a master

In theater, actors have all the weight of the action, you go to see the actors, Dreyer uses the house and the exteriors to tell two different concepts, openness for the lost and unknown, the houses as where everybody feels in control. We can argue if it's a good or a bad movie, but you can't say Ordet is theater.

Is it kino?

Attached: The Battle of Algiers.jpg (1288x1600, 494.59K)

No, Possession is pure shit, seriously. You can't put Possession at the same level as The Exorcist that's pure stupidity, is like your head dissolves to a donkey by saying that.

Why is it shit? Please explain your thinking
Is it just your sensibilities? You haven't the disposition for crazy shit like possession? Nothing wrong with that of course but you are fool to try and say it's objectively bad because of it

They're both shit. Imagine believing The Exorcist is anything beyond a decent popcorn flick.

Nobody of any level can achieve what Tarkovksy achieved. The problem is that very few can see that. Because the only way to prove it is by attesting its Time, not on an academic level, but in a very intimate and personal one, Tarkovsky achieved eternity, the others, history.

Based Tarkovsky drone

Exactly because that reason, the craziness of Possession is an evidence of its vulgarity and lack of truth, its horror is a prop, too literal, while in the Exorcist horror is inherent to the film, the rhythm, music, and pace, I think William Friedkin never really knew what he was doing and that's why is way better.

>criticizes Bunuel's Tristana for being """vulgar"""
>praises the movie where a teenage girl masturbates with a crucifix

what did the retarded drunk ruskie mean by this

Exactly my point, you can't see it, that's sad.

you talk like a fag and your shits all retarded

Can chinese cartoons be /film/?

chinksects cant into art desu

The Exorcist is better by the total image that produces, even if you cherry-pick scenes, in the end, a movie as any other art is measured by the whole and not by the sum of its parts. Possession didn't change the way horror movies were made like The Exorcist, Possession is to masturbate your edgy pathetic side of you, The Exorcist is for those who understand what's the point of art.

the entirety of beckett's output

not watching any of his films

What are some anti-commie kinos?

Stills are not cinema, but any cartoon can be film.

The way people choose screenshots of a film to attest its art is wrong, you measure art by the impact in your personal life, the more trascendental and impactful in your perception of things, the better it is for you, everything else is just intellectuals trying to explain the unexplainable.

That's why most of the intellectuals chose Stalker over Mirror because Stalker gives them a better ground to masturbate their concepts while Mirror has no logic but is the most impactful of all, is his best film.

Exit level needs even more Experimental names.

Shut the fuck up

> Shut the fuck up

You are fucking joke.

>The Exorcist is for those who understand what's the point of art.
What is the point of art then, wise and noble sage? And please don't quote Tarkovsky at me, think for yourself for once.

craziness ≠ good

No one said that

Any more "noise film" similar to this and for example Tscherkassky?

I couldn't name any off-hand. It's been a while since I've looked for avant-garde/experimental films.

I'm not quoting anyone, I don't agree 100% with Tarkovsky.

The point of art is to reach total empathy and conclude episodes of your life. People have unconscious needs, beyond their control, they search for the Unknown because they want to be freed from the struggles of life and die in peace. Art is consumed on a personal level, you only know how good it is not by socializing an agreeable opinion but by measuring its impact in your personal story. Even the artist is never truly sure of what is communicating as empathy transcends the canvas and is what is not shown what creates empathy.

Art can literally kill or give life to someone, art is an image, and when is an image is not controllable.

The Exorcist generates more uncertainty than Possession, there were more people affected on a personal level (not in a good way) by the first one, it changed things in the horror film industry.

Link me the one where he praises The Exorcist.

You can find them all here

distantlight.tv/index.php/ru/zritel-dnya/item/44-hate_movie_list_tarkovsky.html

yeah Breathless is pretty far from his movies, I'd also apply his complaint here to La Dolce Vita, the issues of the paparazzo are never really addressed head on

>It's influential, so it's good art

Attached: 1464618972777.jpg (600x600, 210.27K)

Well there we are. I believe art is about personal expression as well the emotional expression of ideas and concepts. You believe something very different, which is fine. You're opinion is still retarded and doesn't make sense though but whatever I'm not going to change your mind so I shall go spend my time more wisely. Perhaps I'll watch Possession again and love it as equally as I do The Exorcist (perhaps even a little bit more)

What makes Marker and Monteiro exit level?

These charts are for people who think they live in Zion and dress like this and think that because they can extrapolate a film into philosophical concepts they are finding gems nobody else seems to understand.

These charts are wrong as the design suggests there are a surface and a bottom, while the truth is, if you think you are at the bottom you are actually at the surface.

Attached: fuckingidiots.jpg (1280x800, 139.21K)

Recommend some directors that are actually at the bottom, as opposed to just seemingly being at the bottom while really being on the surface
