I dont care for it but it puts the war in star wars where the others do not

OT porn, Felicity's buttocks and there's no strings attached since everyone dies

It's the only one of the Disney SW that feels like it's from Star Wars. But I guess that is because it borrows so heavily from the OT. I'd say it's the only the one that has any kind of cultural legacy at all from the Disney shitfest. Namely the space battle at the end and the Vader ending. Also I think it's the best acted one too. The Empire actually seem menacing in this unlike the cartoon comical bad guys in the sequel trilogy.

It's pretty good.

It's main problem is that the characters are very wooden and uninteresting because they are undeveloped. Everything else about it is top notch though.

better director obviously

The Respawn Entertainment game is also pretty decent although the formula is basic as fuck. It's just competently done, while the new trilogy is directed like Transformer movies. Absolutely obnoxious pace, lazy writing with a bunch of twines to joint scenes together, and all you are left with is the progressive agenda pushed down your throat and advertisement for star wars toys.

Rogue One is the only Disneywars movie I consider canon

Because it puts the "Star Wars" into Star Wars. The one big flaw it has is the bloated main cast leaving no room for any meaningful development within the ~120 minutes.

this

pfft character fag

>forgot the webm

That was kino in IMAX. I don't know what it is but RO just looks so much better than the ST. Dunno if it's the direction or style of photography or what.

How based was this guy?

The ST lacked characters like him (Richard E Grant in Ep 9 being an exception). The First Order were just like some comedy sketch villians. The Rogue One Empire was actually menacing. You got the impression they were in control and were a threat.

If not fro (K)KK it could've been even better.

>Simple, self contained story
>Was built on homage of old cinema, among other things, much like the OT and PT.
>Great visual effects
>Good cinematography (the Eadu sequence stands out)
>Actually portrays the Empire as threatening
>Is able to add a new layer by making the rebels morally ambiguous at times
>Vader scene
>Krenic is a memorable villain
>Despite not having much depth, the heroes are memorable personalities
>Kino spacebattle at the end
>Female lead that doesn't feel like cheap pandering.

I'm still not a fan of the way that the whole movie exists to fill a plot hole that wasn't actually a plot hole in the original film, but it's the only Disney Star Wars that's worth a shit.

Same reason Mandalorian was a hit; it was rooted in the original trilogy. It's familiar yet different.

RLM said that it is gloomy war drama instead masqueraded as Star Wars.
RLM is right as always.

RLM really missed the mark with that one

Yep. The general tone the empire gave off in rogue one was very similar to that in the original films. Organised, competent, and genuinely threatening. People remember R1 for the wrong reasons (hurr Vader), it worked because there was a very real and powerful enemy to overcome and success didn't feel preemtively baked into the plot.

Because it was an adventure, not some waffly bullshit about destiny.

Compare this to the First Order in the sequels who are just a bunch of incompetent morons who shout and scream like schoolkids

I lasted half an hour and switched it off. Never went back. So unbelievably boring.

They must've walked out before the last 5 minutes.

Seems fair to me. Watch with their commentary track.
It is an okay movie, some nice visuals, just without character development, without usual character arcs. So a little boring.

This scene makes me sad/angry because it demonstrates that Disney are perfectly capable of nailing the star wars feel but just choose not to.

You arent wrong. VFX in the battle of Scariff seems more polished, clean and realistic looking. ST battles had that unrealistic blurring filter that makes everything look like a mess. Also RO battle has pretty good virtual camera operator that made most scenes epic in scale and just right, while in ST its literally a bunch of ships flying around and exploding.

Thats how I felt about Solo. Imagine making a film about Han fucking Solo such a tedious bore

Watching RO before the OT again made Vader even more threatening after this scene. Improving the originals is the polar opposite of the ST movies did.

They made four other Star Wars movies that were pieces of dogshit. Rogue One was a fluke, user.

I liked Erso's character arc, there wasn't much, but the stuff with her dad and the design flaw was actually pretty neat.
It's like parents and children are important instead of MUH DESTINY REY PALPATINE SKYWALKER.

Yeah and after RO he just kinda forgot to do anything like that

> Do you remember Vader?
> Do you remember AT-AT?
> I clapped for Millennium Falcon
> I masturbate to Felicity Jones dressed in Imperial pilot costume

You must the type of people they make fun of in their Nerd Crew videos.

>while in ST its literally a bunch of ships flying around and exploding
But look at the sheer SCALE of it.

Yeah it's pure fan pandering having a film set in the same time as the OT having stuff from the OT in it.

>gloomy war drama
No. They said it was pointless Star Wars porn
And it was.
Most characters are bland cardboard cutouts.

>> I masturbate to Felicity Jones dressed in Imperial pilot costume
H-how did you knits this? Also checked

Why does every character in the ST make you want to punch them in the face?

Some of them are fun.
And the movie works, especially since they all die so they don't need to worry about anything else.
And it unironically has a better final space battle than anything from the sequels.

Same but for some reason I got the vibe that Krennic would be the one to put the flaw in there. He and Mads were shown to be friends originally and I wanted them to do something with that

>how is it so good
It's merely average and I have a lot of pet peeves about it but it does feel like Star WARS atleast.

>just choose not to

Maybe hire a director that likes what Star Wars used to be instead of trying to reinvent it

> I masturbate to Felicity Jones dressed in Imperial pilot costume
Uhm

>> I masturbate to Felicity Jones dressed in Imperial pilot costume
This but unironically.

Krennic was the cunt friend who bought into the empire's bullshit.

>memorable personalities
they overdid the rpg party bit and I can honestly only remember the monk because his concept of having faith in the force without seeing obvious proofs was very fitting

and even with him I greatly disliked the fact that they went for an asian bald monk out of all stereotypes they have for religious people

Does Wedge appear for more than 1.5 seconds?

Nope. Thats it.

Why even bother, fuck me

The most memorable still shot from Disney Wars.
It was even made unintentionally, according to RLM.

Attached: YHlkWaI.jpg (2279x1282, 140.54K)

This was the exact moment I knew RLM was a joke. Force Awakens was a genuine filmmaking effort but Rogue One was just nostalgia porn? Alright guys, whatever you say. TFA was soulless trash that literally broke the universe so we could see X-Wings and Tie Fighters again. Rogue One found a way to do it organically.

Is this the shot that's not even in the movie?

I'm not one to jump on the everything is pure fan pandering bandwagon, but that was pure fan pandering.

Yep.

youtube.com/watch?v=PN_CP4SuoTU
Star Wars porn.

According to Edwards himself he has a very loose and improvisational attitude to shots and coverage. Apparently this shot was an idea that came to him on the day, that wasn't planned ahead of time.

Not particularly original or visionary.

Attached: Getty_2001Space.jpg (3014x2263, 610.1K)

RLM called TFA "everything they wanted" yet R1 was an OTT homage.

> original or visionary
It is fucking Star Wars, not some obscure Heavy Metal magazine comic.

bunny ass

>without seeing obvious proofs was very fitting
No need to be a dick, user.

Even with no sound watching this makes me cringe. It's hard to put my finger on it but there's something about it, as if a bunch of 12 years olds were asked what they wanted to see in Star Wars, and all the ideas were then mashed into this pile of dog shit.
