The saviors coated their weapons in walker blood in one episode during Season 8. Anybody who got injured by their weapons turned. Makes no damn sense because many characters get covered in zombie blood all the time and nothing happens to them.

They had a war with Negan and won. Carl died. Rick got injured and the group presumes he’s dead but he was actually taken hostage by another group. Then a timeskip and they had another war with another group and won again.

That episode destroyed the popularity. It was also the start of the really shitty writing too.
Negan is bad ass but holy fuck did they stretch out that entire arc and just jam it full of filler.

The first two seasons of Fear The Walking Dead are pure fucking kino if you want a less shit version of Walking Dead. Give up at the end of season two though, the chodes from Walking Dead replaced the writing team for the seasons after that and ruined it.

carl dying was basically the last straw, the showrunners proved themselves incapable of understanding the basic premise that it was his story even more than it was rick's.

Pretty much. He was a major part of things and they did it in such a weak way.
