Arnold was the perfect prime specimen of man, and Stallone the perfect underdog. It was meant to be, but it could never be fully resolved because in real life the credits don't roll after a particularly climactic moment of defeat.

Sly always wrote stories about underdogs and played the part himself. Same with Copland. That's why I liked him in 'Tango & Cash' and 'Demolition man', on of the few roles were he played an unapollogetic alphachad. Haven't seen 'Judge Dredd', yet.

But he always plays these humble, broken men. I grew up in the action hero era, and everybody always mocked them. I had a strong disdain for Rocky, but this scene (for which he got mocked and shit upon), will always remind me Sly is a top notch actor: He was mocked by the politically correct, at that time, but this was amazing acting.
