You're never gonna believe this!
I can't believe it failed you know.
that eragon movie
it was bad
So many bad fantasy adaptations that came in the wake of LOTR and Harry Potter.
Can I just do this one in advance or what?
Tron Legacy, sort of.
Aren't they doing it anyway? I've heard that Frankenstein is in works. They just changed formula.
Not with the one they started with The Mummy. The Invisible Man movie was a completely different film, unrelated to their DARK Universe, and the Bride of Frankenstein project is dead, there's a new one in the works.
They're back to doing standalone ones.
The dark universe franchise attempt is dead in the water, they're still going to make movies with the Universal Horror properties.
Wasn't that Aaron Eckhard Frankenstein movie supposed to be it?
It didn't even start with The Mummy. The Mummy was the 2nd try. This was the 1st try.
It was like a Dracula superhero movie.
Westworld
was this ever related to all of this? Also, that Van Helsing movie with Hugh Jackman was yet ANOTHER try to start a shared Universal horror universe.
I mean, if they'd handled it right I'd have wanted to see a bunch of solo monster movies where sometimes they crossed over into each others movies. They did that with the old monster movies. I liked it then. I'd have liked it now.
If it was well done.
The concept of a monster metaverse wasn't the problem.
I remember watching this in theaters. Thought it was okay and then hardly anyone talked about it, and those that did were pretty negative. Never understood why people didn't get into it. I had a lot of fun.
I remember it being a "good" werewolf movie, which seems like a death sentence to crowds. I don't think people like werewolves all that much anymore.
My favorite bit is where they take him back to the city, and the entire crowd of 'doctors' is watching him convinced he's nuts or some such. Then he transforms and the entire follow through is so entertaining.
They wanted to just copy the Avengers but with horror monsters. It was a terrible fit from the start, and The Mummy as this generic blockbuster didn't work.
Metaverse =/= avengers that's on them for not understanding. Again, the concept is fine. It's how they did it that was the problem. I'm not talking blockbusters here though, I'm talking Monster movies that occasionally cross over.
By the time it actually releases all the kids in it are gonna be like 19.
That sucks. The cast was great. Javier could be perfect as Frankenstein's monster and mummy girl was amazing despite mediocre movie.
I like Tom Cruise but he wasn't a good fit, nor was the tone of the movie. The Mummy herself was fairly cool looking, it's all an issue of follow through and proper understanding of what works. Blockbusters and Tom Cruise? Fine. But Monster movies are not Blockbusters.
I mean they didn't even have movies for them. Depp and Bardem weren't even contracted, and they're not even all together in that image. They were "casting" them for a universe they hadn't made or planned.
It was retarded from the start, them spending too much time going "look we've got a universe just like the MCU now, look at our logo and our easter eggs for films almost no one in 2018 has seen anymore", and not enough time actually making films people were going to want to see and see sequels and crossovers of, which also stayed true to the properties they were adapting.
I'm sure someone will mention the Stephen Sommers Mummy remake, but that was not only standalone but it wasn't "generic", it was a deliberate wacky throwback to the older adventure films, well beyond just the Indiana Jones comparisons. It was also very faithful to the earlier Mummy films anyway despite being action and romance heavy.
>the only books i ever fucking read as a child finally get a movie
>its one of the best if not the best kids films i ever watch
>fucking wonder woman causes it to tank
fuck wonder woman. I am so fucking pissed remembering it now. We will never get another sequel because of fucking wonder woman.
Only thing I remember from the Cruise Mummy is them ripping off scenes from American Werewolf in London wholesale, and that hilarious trailer where the sound was missing.
Patriot isn't going to be renewed for a third season, although it's not a big deal since the only thing left for John to do is get the money from A to B
I watched this film for the first time ten years after it came out, which made this ending hilarious. Fuck this movie is so bad.
the movie was great but the cast would be prohibitively expensive to get back together
RIP
Congrats on killing the series Fox.
I really fucking hope no one ever makes another Alien or Prometheus movie
How about the entirety of Amazing Spider-Man 2?
I'm huge Addison Timlin fan from Californication (and her leaks, including sex tape). She was cast as the lead in "Fallen" which was basically "Twilight" but with angels.
On social media, she seriously thought this was her big break. That she would be the next Kristen Stewart. It was so sad/funny to watch her go thru the motions as her dream failed to be realized. Stupid bitch.

Or that. No more.
Doug's 1st Movie. Literally in the title...
weak bait
You liked Rock n Rolla?
Please, enough
I tell ya what though I wouldn't say no to another Rambo
Not so fast, Shyamalan.
Do Ben Affleck and Chris Pine BOTH failing to reboot Jack Ryan count?
Terminator Genisys was supposed to be a trilogy too.
Not him but I thought it was alright. Definitely one of his weakest movies but still much better than a lot of shit out there and wouldnt call it bad. Its mostly bad by comparison to his other similar, better movies
Oh no the bad guy in this dragon movie has a bad guy dragon. The end.
No sequels.
So was salvation. The last three Terminator films should be considered a trilogy of trillogies.
A glimpse of what will never be
They could do one now as an old king. He's old but he could still get in adequate shape. But a few more years and he'll be too old altogether.
Please give conclude the series Mickey.
Hasn't he said for the past ten years it's happening.
how? i thought all that shit in the end was actual closure and character growth
the carrie diaries, hellcats, legend of the seeker, the secret circle, the wb in general, and screamqueens past s1e3
A movie like Milius's Conan could never be made in current year Hollywood. If it does happen, it will be wokeshit. Just last year Arnold said he's trying to get Netflix to make it.
fucking cunts I liked it, too
How many YA franchises bombed out on their first try?
Eragon
Cirque du Freak
Mortal Engines
Mortal Instruments
Golden Compass
Percy Jackson
5th Wave
Jumper
Number Four
The Seeker
Vampire School (or something)
I'm struggling to remember them, there was so many. I saw next to none of them but I know they were all supposed to be franchises, the next Harry Potter or next LOTR.
>Jumper
Wait that was supposed to have sequels? sauce?
>Stephen Sommers Mummy remake
dubs of truth, those movies are timeless
You're missing this.
Also I think the recent Wrinkle in Time counts
Seems so, I know nothing about the books it was based on
en.wikipedia.org
Honestly, I went to the cinema just to see how based Vlad exterminated t*Rdroaches. I didnt give a fuck about the vampirism part
That one was a shame to miss.
>Golden Compass
this shit makes me rage everytime i remember. it should have had an intermission and been 5 hours long, such wasted potential
Unfortunate Events got a second TV adaptation which did the entire book series, Golden Compass currently has a show that's gonna do all of them as well.
