Best X-Files ep

Beyond the Sea.
No question.
First season. Scully the believer, Mulder the skeptic. The song, holy crap the song.
Brad Douriff as Boggs: best television performance of all time. Hands down.
Only DPO comes close.

Damn, I'd have to say a tie between the Flukeworm or the one with the school and pedo/satanic cult ring

I agree. That Dourif performance was incredibly intense.

For me, it's Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose

Why do people seemingly get mad if you think Jose Chung's is the best episode? Or your favorite.

I respect that

For me it's Pusher. That cop setting himself on fire shocked the shit outta me.

>so break down what is "funny" to you for us...
>just so the point you are trying to make doesn't fall flat like a bridge jumping attempt

Pusher is sick

Cylde Bruckman or the one where Mulder finally got closure with his little sister

Good choice, that episode is kino.

still D.P.O. had the Sonic theme in the intro. Plus Giovanni Ribisi, young Jack Black, and the first time "you're pissing me off" aired on network tv.

For me, it's Paper Hearts. Tom Noonan invading Mulder's dreams, implying he's the one who actually killed Mulder's sister.
Mulder's doubt, Scully's disgust with Noonan as he constantly twists the knife with Mulder.

This

not my favorite but easily one of my favorites

Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose is a television landmark

These are both correct answers, because they're both A+ episodes.

Too bad they ended the revival of the series. 2nd season was far better than first. Just hire a new Scully. Scully's sister. Scully's daughter. Scully's next door neighbor's former roommate. Boom. There. Done.

Ratings only went down because before the 2nd season she said she'd leave the series. Nowadays, you just have to keep going and can't let crowd reaction get to you.

for me its "the walk" that episode fucked me up as a kid watching it

Probably because of how meta and self-referential it is. It relies a lot on the established tropes of the show -- it's not standalone in the sense someone could watch it without having seen any other eps and get it.

But it's still one of the GOATs. I love that it's kind of a love letter to science fiction and the entire alien abduction phenomenon, with all its literature and tropes and esoterica.

Honestly, I loved the second revival season too. But part of the reason I thought it worked was because it seemed to be aware that it was the last season. That sense of finality works really well for it.

OOGA BOOGA

The best Darin Morgan episode for me was the Lost Art of Forehead Sweat and that honestly should've been the series finale.

Given recent events, I want to bring attention to one of my personal favorites, F. Emasculata, the contagion episode from season 2. A great thriller, I was on the edge of my seat.

literally his worst ep. at least the first revival was kinda worth it for were-monster

one of the best explanations on the internet

Have you guys watched DPO recently? Ribisi kills it as an electro-autist. Young skinnier Jack Black as his pal? The final scene that broke network tv standars just because it was a Friday night late show? Everything about it is too good to be denied.

THAT'S WHY I SAY HEY MAN, NICE SHOT

Kill Switch

kill switch was great but
dude did you even watch the first four seasons?

Attached: _r_tard.jpg (649x676, 63.15K)

Based answer. Personally it's Squeeze/Tooms

It's one of the best episodes. X-Cops is up there too.

Beyond the Sea and Paper Hearts are up there for me as the very best.

I have to admit some bias though, I prefer the show's more serial killer type story lines instead of just the regular super natural material so my X Files taste is a little unconventional.

x-file serial killer or regular serial killer?

Goddamn this was such a shit episode, but hot damn Scully looked gorgeous in it.

underrated af episode

the skinner episodes were the best ones and everyone knows it.

for me it's Duane Barry, unfortunately the next episode is when Scully is kidnapped which marks the end of good story arc episodes

lulz this thread is so dead
because all the good heads
are watching these episodes
instead
>pic unrelated

You mean other than Darin Morgan episodes? Because those are clearly better than everything else.

Were-monster was absolutely amazing, and the only reason the revival should exist. It's more of a sendoff/love letter to the series.

Either :)

>My man

>You know, there are worse ways to go, but I can't think of a more undignified one than auto-erotic asphyxiation.
>...Why are you telling me this?

The one with the inbred family and also any if the ones with Michael McKean are great.

yeah this is very underrated, glad to see it mentioned

Duane barry is also my favourite arc episodes, but wtf are you talking about? You didn't like one breath, or s2 finale, or operation paper clip? Some of the best arc episodes followed the duane barry/kidnapping arc.

Humbug is the classic episode in my mind, both humorous and doubles down on the bizarre subject matter that M&S usually deal with.

It unironically isn't

kek
so many implications

notice how every great episode is a monster of the week? why do people love them specifically but hate them in general? serialized x files is mediocre.

I liked field trip

>CTRL F "Arcadia"
>Zero replies
Plebs, the lot of you.

Dogget episodes are kino.
Like the one where he has amnesia in Mexico.

hard to disagree with Humbug but I still think Beyond the Sea beats it because of Scully's screaming rant

You set us up...{/spoiler]

War of the corophages
The postmodern Prometheus

Not really though, people have mentioned story beyond the sea or duane barry. In fact, I would rank the pilot, the second episode, E.B.E., the erlenmeyer flask, little green men, duane barry/ascension, anasazi, blessing way, paper clip, piper maru, nisei and the s04 finale and s05 redux episodes as better than most MOTWs in the series.

But keep in mind they did a LOT more MOTW episodes, and they had a lot more freedom to experiment with them, it makes sense that some turned out to be strokes of genius and better than the rest. However if you take into account all the crappy motws, the average arc episode is better than the average motw, at least for the first 4, maybe 5 seasons.

>No mention of 'Drive' yet
>No mention of the episode that inspired the ryan gosling movie of the same name and the breaking bad universe.
