I think the Space Marine armor is the weakest point of the whole aesthetic, their tiny heads and huge feet (to say nothing of the pauldrons) make them look like edgy Bob the Builder characters, I just can't take it seriously. I honestly love the creepy Adeptus Mechanicus, the Guard, all that shit, but both loyalist and Traitor Marines look silly to me and I wish they redesigned the armor (I know, heresy). To say nothing of the terminator helmets that look like those dog masks gay perverts wear.

What I think happened is the scale had to be off to make the first run of figurines look "big" compared to the other figures, and then instead of correcting it in the art, and just running with the totally understandable idea that different mediums work better with skewed proportions (see: realistic Mario looking grotesque). And this is coming from a guy who tried to make himself play the clunky-ass Space Hulk game just because I liked the idea of a 40k FPS.

What's strange is how the art seems to go the opposite direction and make their heads even tinier than the figurines. No joke, that's how I used to draw superheros when I was in elementary school.

orcs might be considered "OK" in the sense that they are a force of nature. They are spores after all. But yeah, demons and especially dark eldar are not in any way good, whatsoever.

Warhammer could work as a straight up war story with next to no plot and that's kinda it. There's too much fluff to keep fans or casual watchers happy.

I can't even imagine the year 3000 would have a problem with homophobia let alone 30,000 or 40,000.
But as you've said, a strict fascist society that demands compliance in all ways seems at odds with sexual deviancy.
