True Dectective season 1

Really sick of all the boomers on this board that pretend this is the greatest tv show ever. Good performances and philosophy that might be deep to a 16 year old but the plot was all over the place. There have been much better shows over the past few decades. ,

tv shows are garbage in general
idk why anyone would waste their time with tv when film is superior and there are more good films than you can watch in a lifetime

From the dusty mason

Its been better than 95% of the shit that has come out recently.

Exactly you could watch some movies instead

Man who likes to mow his own lawn detected.

>There have been much better shows over the past few decades.
such as?

Season 2 is better. Season 1 is a murder mystery, season 2 is almost a greek myth, a bellerophonic tale of how the three detectives involved wanted to unravel a conspiracy that was far too large for them not to be struck down by it. They flew too close to Olympus, and fell off the horse, down to Earth. There's no happy ending. Also, season 2 had more going on in it overall. Call me contrarian, but s2 is better than s1. S1 is really good, don't get me wrong, but S2 is masterful. Not memeing.

The Sopranos
The Wire
Game of Thrones
The Walking Dead

None of those are TV shows. Nice meme you mong.

This

I think Vince Vaughn was just horribly miscast. He’s fine in certain stuff but didn’t fit that role.

Vince was the only one who was slightly weak, but he still did decently, I think.

Imagine Idris Elba

ok

You sure showed him

>Game of Thrones
Oh I am laffin

What I most enjoyed about it was the atmosphere of rural poverty, reminded me of my childhood and was comfy as a result
>deeb philosophy
Rust gets btfo for his edgy nihilism though, only a brainlet would see it as being portrayed positively by the end

Blessed image

Only one of those is actually good and I bet you have no fucking clue which it is

how was the plot all over the place? it was concise and all the clues and foreshadowing mattered. fucking idiot faggot

The Wire

The Sopranos and The Wire are both good

time is a flat circle

You as the viewer are not supposed to ‘agree’ with Rust’s philosophy. Simpleton Marty even breaks it apart at multiple points himself. It’s the inevitable despair of a man who’s been through so much loss and has nothing to live for, so he applies to everyone else.

16 year old: wow rust is right I agree with him
18 year old: Rust is dumb I took phil101
Adult: rust is a tv show character and it doesn’t matter whether he is wrong or right

69 year old, wow Rust became a christian god bless jesus

This is true. TV Shows are just movies that get dragged out forever and thus become boring as fuck as they have to throw in shit loads of filler. Although I did enjoy True Detective as at least it was just a miniseries rather than a multi season story

Fargo season 2

Very disappointing ending is what killed it for me. It was strange because I dropped it for a couple weeks right at the last decent episode and right before the first episode of the lackluster ending. It was like I knew, somehow.

All that speculation for nothing.

what is it with incels and spouting the following:
>philosophy 101
>deep to a teenager/[insert age here]
>edgy
it's like they all got the same newsletter for how to respond to realism or anything that espouses realism

Nice try but only zoomers rate this higher than decent

Well Rust is right if you're one of the unlucky people, of which there are many. If you got a good cosmic dice roll and you're a lucky/happy parasite you get to live in a bubble of satisfying mindless delusion, pretending your undeserved luck reflects reality. But objectively, Rust is correct because the universe is only as good as the life of the worst-treated conscious being.

its a really good ending cause rust wasnt hallucinating

I do think the reveal was a bit of a let down but still enjoyed it. I thought they were gonna go all in on secret society shit, not just a dude who was sorta part of an old secret society that died out

why dont you just shut the fuck up ok

> But objectively, Rust is correct because the universe is only as good as the life of the worst-treated conscious being.
That’s a big claim I don’t care to discuss on a Micronesian toe painting forum. The point of my post is that it pisses me off when first year college students say it’s a bad show because Kant, nietsche, and Locke refute rust’s philosophy. He’s a tv show character who has experienced loss, which explains why he thinks the way he does. The show’s quality doesn’t hinge on whether he’s ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. The legitimately interesting part about his philosophy and other aspects of the show is that it seems self-aware of the idea of replay media: things repeating, that tall guy whose head Marty blows off being an amalgamation of all things bad to the point of the amount of tattoos he has being comical, etc.

>10/10 intro sequence
>10/10 music every episode
>10/10 acting performances from everyone
>10/10 directing
>10/10 writing
It's the best, most complete show I've ever seen.

Chernobyl is better than most films

It's essentially perfect, there's a reason why all criticisms of it are dumb and vague and written by people who seem to be emotional

>title is true detective
>shows what it's like being affected by an unsolved case
>complains
I think you're the 16 yr old here user

I’ve had my iq tested as high as 165 on various online websites. Nihilism is literally baby’s first philosophy.

>boomer now means those that were old enough to watch HBO with parental supervision a mere six years ago

Attached: 1383717079898.jpg (1280x720, 232.79K)

It’s definitely a show for a much older generation. Like people in their 30s probably watched it live

I was 23 when it aired, and it's the best shit ever.

How cum Rust got so pissed after he cream pied Marty’s wife?

I bet it was cool. There wasn’t that many people on here then. Yas Forums just kind of blew up,

>true detective S1
>fargo S2
>The Terror S1
best kinos in recent memory

>people who enjoyed the show are indoctrinated to one of the character's philosophy
nice IQ user

>I'm triggered by nihilism and not smart enough to understand it, and too emotionally fragile to accept how awful life is for most creatures, therefore it's [choose one or more: baby's first, edgy/grimdark, for 16 year olds, philosophy 101].

You are fooling no one

>he doesn't think true detectives is the greatest show on hbo and or tv show in general ever

Attached: true 2.jpg (400x600, 79.27K)

Isn't is obvious? He realized she used him to get back at Marty, and that their relationship would be irreparable as a result.

eeehh wrong, try again

Episodes 3-5 are probably the best tv I've ever watched. The rest is great sans the finals but I could watch those 3 a million times and never get tired of it.
