I'm not sure that would be interesting. What made the Sopranos good was the interpersonal dynamics (especially familial) that were surprising to non-Italian viewers and surprisingly accurate to Italian viewers.

It was the reveal that hardened, murderous, archetypical bad guys are also silly, soft, and conflicted in ways that conflict with but don't detract from their image somehow.

Japanese families and Japanese crime both seem very rigid, unless I'm wrong. That wouldn't be interesting, everyone would just be written too cool and cold.

Mexicans also don't work because the cartels are booming, and the sopranos is partially about the heyday being long past.

She moves with her aunt after her family dies in a fire, and both start investigating a series of rape and killings of young girls. It's set in an alternative 1997 where Torino has been destroyed by a great sinkhole and most people live in a state of constant paranoia and dread because of weird events like an unknown epidemy of people starving themselves to death or the stranding of a mysterious gigantic creature in the shores of Japan. It's mostly just surreal, disquieting horror.

I hope we get to see Capaldi's pretty pussy too.

Sounds pretty cool though.

Probably a few years before it passes a "too soon" threshold but id like to see a 28 days later miniseries, as long as it avoids becoming a The Walking Filler clone. Could sort of riff on coronavirus by making the origin not experiments but a virus transmittes from bats or pangolins but bats would seem more fitting for drama/recognisability (rage virus infected bats would be terrifying and spread easily)

Setting it across different continents showing different rates of spread and having different characters would be neat - not too many but GoT sorta showed it can be done.

>similarly, it's interesting watching some of the lower families work their ways up to the top - a random servant who's the butt of jokes might have a descendent who becomes king later down the road
