Britain's position as an island away from the mainland is a strength when they're fighting Europeans. Napoleon also victoriously fought campaign after campaign for close to two decades. Wasn't most of Washington's record pretty poor?

Yes but you could say that while Napoleon won the battles, he lost the war. For Washington it was the opposite. They both had unique strengths but the one common to both was the power to inspire. Both men inspired incredible loyalty and esprit de corps. Nobody else could have done the things they did and that includes eachother.

There are two key facts to the Vietnam War when you discuss them online. One is that yes, the US withdrew and South Vietnam was then invaded and reorganized into one communist state.
