Fuck cinemas and the autists that go to them.

Cinemas can go fuck themselves. Who wants to watch a film with people talking, checking their phones, eating crab legs, etc.?

All they gotta do is play Disney Star Wars movies and pretend like it's a normal day.

We can only hope that the entire film industry takes a huge hit from all this. Make way for new studios, and start over less commercialized until shit starts to repeat itself, but the first few years could be quite good.

this might legitimately be the catalyst for what we've all been waiting for, for cinemas to lose their grasp on new releases.
Everyone prefers watching at home, the cinema is just an excuse to go out and there are plenty other excuses to take its place.
No one likes the high prices, or having to sit near strangers.
More and more people have been watching camrips of new movies just to stay in the loop rather than actually see it properly.
It just makes sense for new releases to be delivered in the home now.

Film studios can still price them differently. Maybe there will be Netflix premier tier which adds a few dollars to your subscription.
Or the Itunes/Google version will cost more.
And we'll get high quality pirate rips without the long wait.

Honestly, would anyone be sad if the big cinemas died?
The small ones have already died in droves, I'd at least miss those.
But the big chains can get fucked, they had their chance and now it's over.

Cinemas are not worth saving. They would be if they studios that used them still made content worth seeing but alas, they do not.

Mainstream cinema was doomed anyway and Corona will only accelerate its demise.
The few movie theaters that will survive will cater to a more niche audience with artistic films/festival circuit etc.
So there will always be cinema in theaters but it will be mostly irrelevant for the majority of people.

People used to go to the movie theaters because there was no other place to see movies.
now you can stream/download any movie or tv show and watch it on a pc or on a large tv screen or any other device you want.
you can watch them at any time you choose, you can stop the movie, go back, rewatch a scene, stop the movie and go to sleep and watch it another time.
what are the benefits of the theater? people making disgusting noise eating? people commenting loudly? children making noise? (don't say "don't watch children's movies". I was at a screening once where a mother brought her 5 years old daughter to watch one of the Underworld movies. the child was obviously frightened. why are people garbage?)

This and in my country was like 5/6 € to see a movie. Now is almost 10 with overpriced popcorn. Also you can bring Nachos and Cheese stuff, so the whole cinema stinks.

Same thing as watching a comedian live, going to a concert or a game: sharing emotions as a crowd releases more endorphins.
