HEVC is pretty much the most efficient coved, also known as h265. x265 is the software that turnes videos into h265. For 1080p it achieves great quality at around 5 to 6 Mb/s.
HDR is a meme for rich faggots.

Am I the only one that can't get h265 stuff to play in BSplayer? Tried every fucking codec pack under the sun and at best all I get is audio. I watch most stuff on the TV, but it's annoying when you want to check what you downloaded and have to go for the right click open with.

There is literally zero point to ripping or streaming in 4K. If you aren’t watching it on the 4k bluray there will be zero discernible difference between the rip and 1080p. Zero. Zip. Nada.
Blu-ray or UHD Blu-ray, which are still the best quality official releases.(much higher bitrate compared to streaming or an 8GB encode)
A 50GB UHD BD release or remux rip is a world apart from 4K through streaming.

Well I have to be honest between h264 and HEVC 1080p files I can't tell the difference in quality and it's usually half the size. The only problem I have is with the lossy audio but it's not the end of the world I suppose.

Tigole is the best HEVC ripper. Small as fuck file sizes yet the video and audio quality is excellent. Most HEVC rippers seem to be shit though.

The audio has nothing to do with HEVC and everything to do with the ripper themselves. Download literally any Tigole rip. The audio is excellent.
