Agree, pretty underrated masterpiece
>anime
sorry i'm not a manchild
I remember watching this on Sci-Fi Channel as a kid in the '90s, had never seen an animated film so edgy and violent before. Feel like the current Castlevania series has lifted a lot from it.
Ninja Scroll with a vampire coating
still good though
How did you get that idea? Neither the story nor the setting or action is comparable.
hero is a loaner with a sword, fights off demons like a series of boss battles, female side kick, creepy old guy etc.
also it's made by the same director, so not surprising that it's structurally very similar
but I like his style so much that it doesn't really matter
>loaner
I meant loner, my IT job is affecting my brain
I know that feel. Hospital IT is a horrible experience.
>hero is a loaner with a sword, fights off demons like a series of boss battles, female side kick, creepy old guy etc.
that's 99% of japanese action/adventure movies from 1970-1990.
The dubbing was shit though. I seem to remember the antagonist sounding like jim broadbent which doesn’t help with immersion
Sitting in a corner all alone... Staring from the bottom of his soul... Watching the night come in from the window. Window. It'll all collapse tonight... THE FULLMOON IS HERE AGAIN! In sickness and in health. Understanding, so demanding. It has no name, there's one for every season.
Makes him insane...
TO KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
poor man's Solomon Kane
I feel they just lifted everything they could from Book of the New Sun and I loved every second of it
Is this the most kino AMV ever created?
>Made in 2006
>Still on Youtube
That's crazy
Grove Marcus was great
youtube.com
Marcus Bros needed a spinoff, pity they're all dead.
it came out in 2000..
Sonata Arctica is fucking garbage
God damn
I respectfully disagree. That shit gives me chills.
Are you 12? Power metal is for teenage boys
Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Heavenly, they all bring back great memories. All from AMVs
>Not being able to enjoy that immaculate editing with that fitting song, especially by 2006 youtube standards
Soulless
samefag
My favorite film, and I'm generally against anime.
No, I like Vampire Hunter D, you're a powermetal loving wanker.
The song is shit
>Yeah, I like power metal, it has sweet sounding harmonic melodies coupled with pleasing guitar riffs and it makes for perfect AMV material, how could you tell?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, YOU CAN'T JUST ENJOY METAL THAT DOESN'T BLOW YOUR EARDRUMS OFF, THAT'S NOT FAIR
>blocks your life for one hour
>t. likes star wars
I really like the world building, there's a cyberpunk mixed with western vibe to it, very good. Wish it got a 13 episode season to flesh out more stories from D and his adventures.
fpbp
Is it possible you're thinking of the original movie that came out in the 80's since the Bloodlust movie came out in like 2000.
what other movies like this
Berserk
Yeah I like that it’s basically post-post apocalypse. World got knocked over, got rebuilt in vampires’ image, then fell again.
What are some other kino anime movies? Is Princess Mononoke any good?
Princess Mononoke is very good. Anything by Satoshi Kon is also kino.
seriously what happened to Anime. I feel physically ill
Akira, berserk, Jin roh, ghost in the shell, bebop, gunnm, fist of the north star
I just watched Angel's Egg and I have to say that is 100% certified kino.
>Anything by Satoshi Kon is also kino.
uhhh, no. Perfect Blue is admittedly 10/10, but Paprika sucks balls. I comment this in every thread about it but I rage at the fact the girl randomly loved that obese fuck who lacked self-control, instead of the well-to-do cop. wtf Satoshi? So I've seen 2 of his films and he's sitting at about 75% average score imo.
Fun fact, the English voices ware the primary ones and ware revordef first, the Japanese version is the dubbed version in this case.
Nah l, it was based.
>Paprika sucks balls
Your taste sucks balls.
> but I rage at the fact the girl randomly loved that obese fuck who lacked self-control, instead of the well-to-do cop
Seethe more incel. You're just projecting your own insecurities and shitting on an amazingly animated movie with a great soundtrack.
>revordef
I had a covfefe moment it seems
Teenage boys don't listen to power metal, boomers do.
>"Seethe more incel."
>Why yes, I did self-insert as the cop. How could you tell?
Goku Midnight Eye
Demon City Shinjuku
Wicked City
Cyber City Oedo 808
Ninja Scroll
highlander the search for vengeance
Amano and Kawajiri is a powerful combo.
Got Bloodlust on bluray, damn good purchase.
I wish Kawajiri and Madhouse did more original stuff.
Is this film like Bloodborne?
Not at all
You forgot Birdy the Mighty. Kawajiri's best.
here have some more
D himself is a pretty shit character, but I love the movie.
What don't you like about him?
youtube.com
The older 1985 movie is good too
Also I love the old gritty art style like in memories 1995
Thanks. Gonna watch them while under quarantine.
You're right, BotNS has given me a new appreciation for the dying earth setting and this movie really hit the nail on the head with all the old gothic vampire creations floating around that none of the characters know how to use anymore.
I love how feels like a cross between moidt 80's cyberpunk and 50's sci-fi.
