It's decent, it's a nice meta take on the franchise, it's Scream before Scream with Freddy instead of Ghostface.
No one's scared of Freddy anymore. Kids mock the legend, try to poke holes in it. Everyone laughs. Freddy is old and decrepit, only thing keeping him alive is the few middle aged people who grew up hearing the stories and still fear it (just a bit).
He can still enter people's dream and influence them, but not enough to turn them deadly, certainly not enough to hurt people himself. One day, he gets an idea. He starts subtly messing with teens' dreams, planting fake memories of childhood sexual abuse pointing to the local weirdo.
After enough kids start "remembering" the abuse, the allegations go viral and everyone starts demanding the weirdo is brought to justice. But there is no evidence and the memories are vague and inconsistent. The investigation is dropped.
But the parents are not happy, so they set his house on fire. Finally the Freddy Demon has a new strong host, he offers the weirdo a chance at revenge. A new nightmare is born.
