Diversity regarding people shoved into positions when their writing pedigree is shit. Most of the major writers of the show haven't written serious science fiction before or have significant experience in the Star Trek universe. The ones that do have not shown any skill in writing screenplays, so it's still a case of hirign people based on their gender or ethnicity rather than their actual writing skill. So, quality goes down the shitter.
Regarding the 'projection', it's not projection, it's extrapolation and it's supported by the show. It's fact at this stage, however uncomfortable it might be.
Yes, I've watched and enjoyed them all, though Voyager was tough at times. My qualm isn't with the casting, it's with the writing. In this we might agree; that the overt politics is not progressive but reactionary. The problem is that the writers THINK they're being progressive, and hollywood applauds them and agrees with them. The normal parts of society do not.

What you have to understand is that the current 'writers' are trying to 'correct' the historical slights they believe were done to the 'oppressed' group they believe they belong to, and the way they do this is by writing it into the show. Whether it's the fact that every woman is now in a power position, whether every man is the subject of ridicule, scorn, or weakness, or whether or whether their scripts make no sense and contradict themselves within individual episodes, what you have is exceptionally poor writing quality and standards.
