Since there's a general for /trek/, why not make one for Stargate? I absolutely love Stargate and would love to just make a comfy general where we could talk about based Daniel Jackson and the like. What do you guys think?
/SGG/ - Stargate General
For some reason, despite having a ton of seasons across several shows, Stargate seems to rarely be talked about online.
Where do I start?
Just finished TNG so looking for more sci fi.
just post it in /trek/
>kurt russell
what is this and how do i watch it
its Doorway to Heaven
>james spader
why has he hair?
It's kind of weird because Firefly seems more talked about than Stargate nowadays. I remember Stargate used to be decently popular so where did the fandom go?
Start with the movie then go to SG1.
/trek/ should be Star Trek only.
it was a different time user. a better time
It's Stargate: The Movie. Just rent it.
I saw everything already but im starting again
at s01e21 rn heehee
he grew on me pretty fast
fair enough
It's like posting about Babylon 5 on /trek/. It just doesn't feel right
This thread is about as dead at the TV show.
>Since there's a general for /trek/, why not make one for Stargate?
/trek/ is a nightmare. People who want to discuss classic Trek have no home. /trek/ only exists to discuss tripfags, spam forced memes, and shit your own pants over STD and Picard instead of just ignoring them and watching something else. Don't inflict that hell upon Stargate.
Kill them John! Then we'll have pizza, and margarita shooters!
Daniel Jackson was relentlessly handsome.
I suppose a sci fi support group general would be okay
stargate, x-files, farscape, b5, actual star trek discussion without tripfaggery
Did they actually "kill" him off? I've been marathoning SG1 and it's really killing the comfy.
Thanks for contributing nothing
I don't mean rip off /trek/
>stargate, x-files, farscape, b5, actual star trek discussion without tripfaggery
well, one can dream
We don't want the normies catching on and ruining the show
>Did they actually "kill" him off?
nah he hangs about the wafflehouse from dead like me for a bit before saving the day
He takes a year off but does a really good guest episode with O'Neill.
Sweet. Once I'm done with all the real shows I'll go back to consooming SG1 for another couple of months.
there is nothing left, last series was almost a decade ago
normies dont care about old stuff
Battlestar Galactica and Legend of the Galactic Heroes too, please.
SG:U was good. I said it.
As long as we keep out the Star Wars manchildren I'm good. Thank Rian for destroying that franchise.
The premise was good. The execution was shit and putting the Stargate name on it also didn't make any sense. SG:U should've been it's own new sci-fi series.
star wars isn't even scifi, it's fantasy in a space setting
It certainly wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. Sure it was no SG1 or Atlantis but it had it's moments.
He dies, like legitimately dies, several times over all the seasons. Thanks to Sarcophagi and Ascension shenanigans he comes back though. His character development is something I've always liked; he goes from a awkward, nerdy klutz to a legitimate badass in later series. He picks up a lot of Jack's snark and fills that pragmatic cynical role once RDA leaves the show.
jesus get out more, a sci-fi support group? kill yourself
you too tranny
This. It tried too hard to be Battlestar Galactica with it's dark edginess and drama. It really would have been better as some standalone series. It was a decent show, but a poor Stargate show.
It had it's moments. Like that one time, when a part of the hull were missing in a room and a guy was vaporized by a pulsar jet.
I want to suck Rush's fat Scottish cock
>jesus get out more, a sci-fi support group? kill yourself
I meant that name in an ironic way for humorous effect
no need to be an angry deranged person for no good reason now user
Breathe, my friend, breathe. You don't have Coronavirus. You can breathe.
If you asked a random person if he or she knew about Stargate, that person would most likely give you a confused look
Stargate is kind of an odd franchise. SG-1 kind of superceded the movie in public consciousness so it's kind of weird to think that there was a movie with Kurt Russell and that was the first thing to come out.
I think the reason it became so absurdly popular through the years was because of the absence of competition, it was on the air when Trek was waning and/or dead, and before nu-BSG or Trek ignited the flame again. And I think that's the reason people don't seem to talk about it a lot anymore, along with several far less popular spinoffs.
>It tried too hard to be Battlestar Galactica with it's dark edginess and drama.
Pretty much this. Michael Shanks thought that it'd work around now, but I disagree. Stargate is an action show with comedic elements.
>Cam
>Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Based
Normalfags hate oldschool pre-2010 sci fi for all the shitting on religion and racial dogwhistling it did
God I just want universe to be wrapped up
just two episodes PLEASE
think they should do a reboot in a few years
the Stargate is just such a good plot device
Damn TV Daniel Jackson is way manlier looking than his movie version, I thought OP's pic was of Kurt Russell and a woman at first.
He has longer hair in earlier seasons.
>think they should do a reboot in a few years
Most of the cast (except for Hammond) is still alive. Just do a soft reboot with a new enemy.
Longer hair, yes. Masculine nose, brow and jawline, also yes.
There are also a few scenes in later series where they just show him off lifting weights and being in tank tops. He actually got pretty ripped.
For the love of God fucking NO. Please, just leave the franchise alone and remember how good it was. Do not try to fucking recycle it to try and suck more money from it's zombiefied corpse. If you want a Wormhole eXtreme show fine, but don't try to rehash something just becasue you cant come up with anything new.
>Do not try to fucking recycle it to try and suck more money from it's zombiefied corpse.
I guess you're right. They either have to go to another galaxy or have some sort of overarching theme.
Based. Saved
reminder that michael shanks fucked almost ALL of them
>drips
kinda hated how he was trying too hard to be RDA and mimic his goofiness in the beginning.
based af
I don't consider fucking slags to be an accomplishment.
based and esoteric
He's pretty similar in Farscape. I'm not sure he was just copying RDA.
I mean, Most of them are average looking literal whos, but I'd do some pretty illegal shit if it meant getting into the panties of Amanda Tapping, Claudia Black, or Morena Baccarin.
No one has MARGARITA'S with PIZZA!
How about something legal like dating for a few months, moving in together and then marriage prior to sex?
>Most of them are average looking literal whos
Many average Westerners are overweight. These women are above average by default.
Above average for modern day, not for the times.
Some of us remember the 90s and slim waists.
God, Lexa is so sexy yet so cute
They are actresses, they are required to be above average by default. Even then, I would say most have small tits and average looks.
30% of the U.S. was obese in 2000.
Maybe on the bottom row. The rest are above average.
