It's in a terrible middle ground. Not dumbed down enough to be understandable by people who haven't read the book, not detailed enough to be enjoyed people by people who have.
One of the worst films I have ever seen, proof that David Lynch is a fucking moron.

WE HAVE JUST FOLDED SPACE FROM IX

The confusion is part of the fun. Just roll with it and don't forget to milk the cat today.

I love David Lynch and love the film, the confusion of it goes with the world it feels like/ the confusion adds to the alien of the world and film

David Lunch lol

you have to do some reading to understand it at all, even the book has a glossary in back and when the film was in theaters people were also given a damn glossary. not a good sign. david lynch was not a good choice to dissect and translate a notoriously dense mythology for movie audiences

I don't like water. It's humid and wet and irritating and it gets everywhere.

You ought to read the book first.

What book?

The good book

Dune, silly.

the coloring book

Attached: dune3.jpg (450x601, 29.26K)

I haven't seen it for a few years, but I can't remember being confused by it.
It's just a bunch of space niggers wanting some spice, with your typical "chosen one" hero.

it was a shitty movie made from an even shittier book
the book is unreadable, literally
what would you expect?
Dune sucked

The graphic novel

Lynch wanted it to be an hour longer. Not entirely his fault. It's surprising how much fan edits actually improve the film too.

unironically a more faithful adaptation than the movie

Every Lynch film should have one of those.
And of those.

Perfect response picture to Walt Tinfoil posting

yes, especially the threesome between Paul, his mom and the fat diseased guy at the end

really? what is this game?

Monopoly.

Being this homosexual. How does one even cope?

>Maker hooks
>announce before anything else is shown that people ride the worm
lmao what is the fucking point? just ruin the whole story, why don't cha

This movie kept me from reading the book when i was younger, finally read the book recently and it was great. Fuck this movie.

based on what?

It literally explains everything it's doing every step of the way, brainlet

Why o autists always say this? What's confusing about Dune?

Pleb filter, excellent world building, amazing acting (piter is best), superb sets and costumes, nearly captures the scope of the first book. Great matte paintings as well.

YES HE WEARS EYELNER IN THIS! YAY! SOURCE: IT'S HIS LAST IG POST!

Starts the particular universe and saga so its a classic. I read God Emperor again about two years back and this time it was not as good...
WTF???!!!
So now I don't want to read Dune 1 again.

it's a fucking weird movie. probably harder to follow than the novel itself but also responsible for reductive lines like "the spice must flow xD" that aren't even from the book. I get the sense lynch doesn't care for this kind of sci-fi at all and was kind of just making fun of it. wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't read it at all.

the first novel is effectively star wars, honestly. perhaps a bit confusing when you first start reading it and get used to the worldbuilding, but that's about it. funnily enough lynch's version captures the tone of the later dune novels quite well, in its incomprehensibility, though I think that's a coincidence. the 2020 film will probably be easier to follow like the novel itself.

we will never see an adaptation of anything outside of the novel (rightly so, they're not really made to be adapted) but that's where herbert really set himself apart. never read any of brian's work and never will, the mere fact he's released novels explaining each bit of lore tells me he doesn't really get what his dad was doing

outside of the first novel I mean
