Swine Flu was no more dangerous than the regular flu, it's also thought to have infected 11-20% of the world's population. Covid hasn't infected nearly that number but the deaths are increasing rapidly.

Swine flu killed over 100,000 people, but that was over a period of nearly a year. I think the overall mortality rate was lower, but as Corona spreads the mortality rate will likely go down. What's worrying is in Italy the virus seems to be a lot more fatal, it's going to surpass Chinese fatalities soon, and the situation in the US is changing rapidly too. I think the measures the US is taking are justified, if they don't mitigate infections they estimate up to 96 million Americans could be infected, which would result in a few million deaths.

The people who develop pneumonia from it have some risk of lung scarring from it, which is true of every case of pneumonia. People who have no or mild symptoms, ie 80+ percent who get it don't get lung scarring. This isn't "in question" its already known, people just want this to be something its not.

Real question, why are you defending the low balled figures that are being BTFO every day. This is the Italian mentality, look at Italy now. They said, "It's just a cold" and now have 30,000+ infected with hundreds dying a day and they have no clue how to stop it. They were too late to begin isolation protocols.
