It's crazy how with all the extra help the channel has now that the quality has taken a significant dip in quality, particularly on the technical side of things. The editing has gotten sloppier, the lighting is often shit and the audio mixing is poor. Like for MM this year there was the background audio is way too high in the mix on a lot of the videos and it made the videos even more unwatchable than they would already have been.

Except he's not just backing up to DVD. He records to DVD, thereby encoding to the shitty mpeg 2. He then reencodes to a more modern format using final cut. If he just recorded straight to the modern format, then his recording wouldn't be anywhere near 150GB.
